So a couple of days ago I decide to take a look inside the battery cavity to see what brand of 9-volt battery the factory installed in my American Standard Jaguar. I removed the cover and much to my surprise there are 2 9-volt Duracell batteries laying in the cavity both connected to the preamp.

Fender's spec's say that the electronics in the bass are driven by a single 9-volt battery. I have no issues with an 18 volt system, but if the spec has changed then it should be noted in the Jaguar section of Fender's website so potential buyers are aware of this.

UPDATE - I checked with Fender and here's their reply:

"It’s called a “Bi-Polar” system which technically is 18v but it’s + - 9v (2 9v yes), as opposed to 2 9v batteries in series (18v)."

I noticed that the spec of the electronics of the bass has been changed on Fender's website to now read 18 volt.

I would have bought one, until I found out it has active electronics. I got a JP-90 instead.

It has a bypass switch so you can run it either passive or active. Personally, I like having that option in a bass.
