It's about time,... I always thought there should be an American made Jaguar bass,.... I love the choice of colors that are available & I like that Fender has swapped out the single coil pickup in the Neck position (as seen on the MIJ version) for a split coil pickup.
I also like the satin finish on the back of the neck,... Nice !! & as for the dials ..they're pretty easy to navigate through,.... I should also mention the neck though body Fender Hi-Mass Bridge is another nice touch as are the tuners,.....I have the same tuners on my Vintage Hot Rod 70's Jazz Bass.( & the same 63' Split coil Pickup)
All in All I think Fender has hit a home run with The American Standard Jaguar Bass,...... I'm trying my heardest right now not to have G.A.S for the American Standard Jaguar Bass in Olympic White ....... I've already got 9 Fender Basses in the Aresenal...... I truely though that was it when I bought my Vintage Hot Rod 70's Jazz Bass back in March... :(

It looks spectacular but I doubt in 3 lifetimes I would have use for so many switches. However for those who enjoy spending countless hours searching for just the right Goldilocks tone this could be the bass for them.

This is doesn't make sense. The only difference is that the settings are switches rather than knobs so it looks like a lot. In reality. there are less setting than many other basses.

This is such a cool bass. So much more style than many other basses on the market - Fender or otherwise. I have flatwounds on mine and it is awesome.

Hey guys,

For those who haven't heard, we've expanded our classic American Standard line. The new Jaguar® Bass model offers the comfortable body of the original Jag bass plus all the features of the contemporary American Standard series, including a modern 9.25" rosewood fingerboard with medium jumbo frets. But it's also been upgraded with additional features such as a versatile P/J pickup configuration and combination top-load/string-through-body High-Mass Vintage bridge. Add series/parallel switching and a dual-circuit Jag design, and tonally, it really packs a powerful punch! Check it out and let us know what you think.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Fender person

Why is the company so anti-blue???? It is so hard to find a blue bass, at least in the premium range. All I want is American Deluxe in blue.

To be fair, you can get an American Vintage Precision or Jazz in blue. It doesn't get much more premium than that.

We seriously need the black and sunburst options to be available for the new Modern Player Short-scale version.

Many people are angry about it. Please take this seriously!

There's no short-scale Modern Player Jaguar Bass. Unless you're talking about the Pawnshop Reverse with the Music Man-style humbuckers or the Squier Vintage Modified SS.

You're right but there's no mention of a Modern Player Jaguar SS.

The newest addition to the MP series is a short-scale Jazz Bass with 18 frets.

I have seen the news, but I have not seen it in person in my neck of the woods.

The short-scale Modern Players are even not listed in the products' page!

Question. How could an instrument designed by Fender Japan in 2006 even get considered to become an "American Classic Series" instrument? Maybe there was just nowhere else to stick it?

Here's hoping that when Corona cooked up the USA incarnation they found workarounds for the myriad of electronics issues inherent in the Fender Japan issues! The Japanese one was such a dog that FMIC stopped importing them a couple of years ago.

Echoing King Of Pain here, why not a 51-54 Precision for the American Classic Series instead of this Japanese designed bass tech's 21st century nightmare?

I'm not even knockin' on the instrument. Though, I too would hope they worked the bugs out and upgrades the electronics to the American Standard specs. Remember, this isn't in the American Vintage line. I personally just think it's ridiculous that we can get "pawn shop" style American Standard instruments, but we can't get an American Vintage 51-55 Precision. After 32 years it's time to give Precision players more than the 50's and 60's split coil options. The 2014 Vintage Hot Rod J Bass covers this market for production line American made product. How many American made P/J basses are we going to get before this company gives the Bass that put it on the map it's due?
