I'm really interested in one of these things, and since the Guild I was going to buy has simply disappeared from this dimension, I think I'm now in the market for one. I just have one concern...

The Squiers have a handful of features I prefer over their generally-much-nicer Fender counterparts, the most important of which being the switching. The "strangle" circuit in particular is a HUUUUUUGE selling point, as it sounds absolutely grizzly with some gain, and it means I won't have to invest in a bass amp immediately. The big downfall of this guitar/bass/beast, however, is it's trem. It doesn't lock. A floating trem that doesn't lock is problematic, and I imagine bridge cable strings will not help the situation.

Would I be able to replace the trem with the locking Fender variant, or would there be compatibility issues?

Maybe a jaguar bridge would work? I can't confirm if it will be a direct fit but by the eye looks dead on.

I wouldn't like to hazard a guess on this. There are so many minor variations in dimensions between US, Mexican and far eastern Fenders and Squiers it's difficult to keep track. You may well find the Indonesian Squier bridge uses metric screws. Personally I'd contact a parts supplier and send very detailed photos and measurements of the Squier bridge, maybe see if you can get a Fender unit on a sale or return basis but remember they won't be keen to accept a return of an unboxed item.

Would it really matter if the screws were metric or not on a bridge replacement? I mean the bridge itself is screwing into wood...and if he was using the original saddles then the original screws would be used. If the bridge included new saddles then it would certainly include the correct screws.
