Today was going great, I picked up my check and ran my Guild down to my local music store to have the tech replace the jack and the phaser switch. In the process, I also talked them out of a Zildjian K Custom Ride for $100, which is great.

Anyways, I nearly lost my thumb at work and now I have 6 stitches holding it together. #$@*&!% lovely, right?

I'd rather have my left thumb hurt, I could actually play then. Then again, wiping my $@! would be harder.

Hmmm. I wipe my $@! with my left hand

How did you manage to mangle your thumb, if I may ask ?

Hope you heal soon :D

I was lifting the lid off a freshly opened can and slipped with it. Damn near took the whole surface of my thumb off.

Get better soon -- glad the thumb injury isn't too serious...

I've had worse cuts on my eyeball. Quit griping and go back to work.

Two weeks ago, I cut my left thumb in approximately the same spot--however, with a razor knife and only requiring 4 stitches. Hurt like High Holy Heck at first, but it was ok and I was back to playing the next day.

I'd love to, but I've never had stitches before. I don't know the limits of them and honestly don't know the limits of my own skin. I still can't grip a pick, or a stick.

Basically, a thin football shaped chunk on the crease of my thumb was cut completely out and left hanging by skin, and sewn back into place. I'm not able to bend my thumb. Maybe tomorrow, but I don't know.

It's my first time being physically unable to play, and it's nerve wracking.

It's not even a matter of physical pain now, it's just that it's so swollen that it's too tight to bend.

More or less, it's the same situation I had to go through in the last month. I had a large abscess on my arm, which prohibited me from playing guitar for like 20 days. Don't worry mate, it'll heal soon and you'll be up and running in no time! :)

I'm not sure what happened to your eye, but my son scratched my eyeball when he was 5 months old. I had a corneal abbrasion and they had to pull the scratched flap off my eye. That was a pretty painful experience. My eye hasn't been the same since.

Yea that reminds me, when I was 6 years old, I ripped my bottom eyelid on my right eye. Basically, I fell while playing outside and took a handlebar to the eye, as in my eye landed on it.

I'd really take other people's tolerances and limits into consideration before telling them just to get over it or to simply quit griping. I hate to say it, but SA, you've made an $@! of yourself to me, but it's fine, everyone's pants fall in public at least once in life. :P
