Well, you're right to be concerned,.. I think you did the proper thing.
Not sure what is worse tho.. the rain, or oppressive sun and heat..

set up on a flatbed on a softball field for a benefit in July about 5 years ago. No shade. It had to be close to 95 degrees in the shade, one of the worse out door gigs I ever remember doing. brutal.

+1

I remember venues like that. Worse than the sun and heat was having to rely on the noisy (ie: poorly regulated) power provided by 10kW diesel generators. They paid well though......

Hey Arjay,

I omitted one of the best part of this war story. The person running the power from the clubhouse some how screwed up the cable run, and gave us the wrong feed.

(No one tested the feed, i usually have a tester on hand too.. don't ya know, that day,, I didn't have it with me..)

So the result was every amp, blew the mains fuses. I had spare fuses so my amp was ok. Most of my pedal board could run on 9v. which was handy, cuz my Voodoo labs powers supply AND the power supply for my tonebone classic, fried...

The other guitar player had a Marshall MG series 2x12 combo,

these, as we discovered, do not have a mains fuse, (Brilliant).. so we had to scramble for an amp.

Topping it off, this was for a benefit and we did not get paid. Instead this cost me around 200 bucks to replace the Voodoo Power supply and the tone bone 18w power adapter. Mike's amp, as far as I know, was never repaired.

When these guys asked me to join them for the benefit the following year, -- I didn't say yes... fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice,, not going there..

/Ray

Bummer!

:(

Yeah, I'd tell 'em to go pound sand too.
