Here's my guitar history: In 2000 I bought a Maestro acoustic guitar from Best Buy, which I don't have at the moment because it completely fell apart on its own and....in 2001 I bought a Maestro electric guitar also at Best Buy, which I don't own any more because....In 2010 I bought a Gibson L-5 from, you know....but I keep it in permanent storage, I think. In 2013 I traded my L-5 for a Cort electric. Finally I received a plywood guitar from strings10927 which is my most beloved guitar. :D

The lefty 4003S/5 is pretty recent, I never seen him with a 5-string Ric.

Read somewhere about the Ric getting worked on
The pickups were basically goosed and he'd done a really rough sanding down of the body, that's why the horns look more rounded than normal
The guy in the shop was only supposed to replace the pickup, but he ended up doing a lot more work on it for free

Our agent booked us at a place called Oldham Astoria for a Saturday afternoon gig
I thought it was a bit strange and sure enough when we got there and started setting up, a peek out from behind the curtain revealed the theatre (because that is what it was a old picture house), was full of youngsters up to age 11
The manager (who was a really nice bloke) came to meet us and explained that he'd had the idea of booking groups and saying in local paper adverts "come and bring your kids here , for a few quid, we'll look after them all afternoon, give them pop and snacks , so you can get on with your shopping". He asked us not to play anything too heavy, so we stuck to bubbegum type stuff

Now I was in the habit of asking "Who played here last week?" at places we played at and was really surprised when he said "Oh The Beatles", I nearly dropped !

Apparently he'd booked them ages ago before they took off and when they did, Brian Epstein tried offering him Cilla Black, the Fourmost and Biilly J Kramer and the Dakotas all 3 acts for the same price as the Beatles, if he'd let them out of the booking , which he didn't do, but put the ticket price up and let teenagers in as well

We were talking in the dressing room as to whether he was telling porkies when there was a knock on the door , it was one of the waitresses from the milk bar , she explained that she'd snook in the week before while the Beatles were on stage and put a piece of masking tape with her name on it on the coathanger Paul McCartney was using
She then explained (honest girl that) she had waited till the manager had got back from his holiday and asked him if she could have the coathanger , which of course he agreed to
Turns out after her searching high and low, My coat was on it and there was the masking tape with her name on it (this is the spooky bit), her name was Michelle

I am told, that gig was the last small venue the Beatles played before Shea stadium
(sure I read somewhere the date , it was cold, so probably late winter/spring 1963 ish

I recall Sir Paul being asked that if he were given an ultimatum to keep only one guitar which one he would pick, without any hesitation at all,his answer was his Epiphone Casino.I have to agree that the Casino is an incredible guitar,I have one of the first 50 1965 John Lennon models and it's tied for first place as being my favourite guitar with my '65 Strat.
