Some of the pedals are decent for the price, though the plastic pedal enclosures are a bummer.
The French Toast pedal is a nice octave fuzz, a poormans Foxx Tone Machine.
The Pepperoni Phaser is MXR Phase 90-ish.
Fish & Chips EQ pedal is a decent and cheap EQ pedal.

As far as the guitars. I think I remember seeing Tom Petty using one, and the band who does the theme for Friends, The Rembrandts, they use one...

The one I like the most is the Wasbi Foward Reverse Delay pedal.

Daughter played one in middle / high school jazz band. Not the worst guitar on earth, especially for the price; had the action taken down and it was okay.

She went to a Standard Stratocaster and did not want to keep the Dano.

No personal desire to own one, but they have a niche.

Thanks everyone!

Apart from Page using one wasn't it Brian Wilsons et al standard guitar?

The legendary Rory Gallagher had one in his canon also, so they may not be as bad as we think,eh?

Having done my homework on many many guitar companies, then-and-now comparisons, and makes models technical stuff, PLUS playing one I have come to the conclusion that:

1)Danelctro makes halfway decent pedals for the price (some are irretrieivably horrible beyond use, though,)
and
2) Dano's glory days of guitar are long passed

Teah Dano's quality really sucks nowadays.

Go to " Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Fabulous Thunderbirds - Tuff enuf", and after thirty seconds in the video, you'll see SRV playing a Danelectro Long Horn model. Maybe he followd the advice " go to a music store and try one for yourself", way to go. Ha Ha. But seriously that's the beauty of it, you have the freedom to try any guitar you want, make your own opinion and move on. They do have a niche.

Cheers.

I haven't played any guitars, so I can't really say. Some of their pedals sound good depending on the amp and guitar. As mentioned, the metal cased pedals are the best of the bunch. The others are good to get if you are curious about an effect but don't want to spend a lot of money just to see if you like it.

Don't be arfraid of cheap gear. Don't go hog wild on it either, though. I have a few amps that people consider low quality, but they sound so good I don't care. You can wander up on some bargains, you can get stuck with crap. Just be careful and get what you like. If it sounds good who cares?

I've owned a few danelectro pedals over the years, but I've never been too impressed by them. I have the DC-1 cool cat chorus (2nd version w/ 1 9-volt battery) and it's a major tone sucker. I don't even use it anymore.

I have a Dano tremelo unit, a mini-pedal called "Tuna Melt". Didn't cost much and it did the job. I'm happy with it. Some of the other pedals weren't the greatest, like their octave pedal.
