While in the garage looking for some fine grit sandpaper to finish off my ding repair I came across this. I was going to pick up some 2000 grit paper and some polish for the final sand/buff but I’m half tempted to just use this. Doesn’t appear to contain silicone so might give it a go.

Can anyone attest to the pros and cons of using hardwood floor polish?

I've never used it on a guitar but the Bona stuff is good. I applied it to an old floor and it looked nice and didn't interfere when I refinished the floor with some water based urethane later on.

I haven't used it on guitars, but on floors. It's about the worst hardwood floor wax there is. It's so thin flowing that you have to wait hours between layers, and if you try to buff it, you get swirls. It's intended for lazy people (read: Americans) who wouldn't recognize a floor squeegee or buffing machine if they saw them. It's a far cry from the much thicker Swedish floor wax and buffing process it's named after (bona = buffing, so it's ironic that you can't buff it).

Back to guitars, because it's so thin flowing, you probably will have problems getting it to stay on the area of the guitar you want to treat. Also, floor wax is shiny, but not slick. It's deliberately not slick, so people don't slip and fall.

Without having tried floor wax on a guitar (but having waxed floors hundreds of times, mostly in my air force days), I'd say fill in the ding with clear epoxy, and then use a good carnuba paste wax. If it's good enough for a luxury car fender, it's good enough for a Fender.
You can certainly try the floor wax, but be very careful that the liquid doesn't run places it shouldn't, like into your pickups.

If you have a ding in your finish, and have wet sanded to 2000grit, you'll need a reasonably harsh compound to remove the fine sanding marks (I am a vehicle detailer). Normally a rotary machine and something like 3M Fast Cut would be used, but on a softer poly finish, by hand, something like Meguiars ScratchX or PlastX would be useful.

Thanks very much for all the feedback here.

This is some stuff I had from when the neighbor across the street moved out and didn’t want to put any cleansers on the moving truck or dump them in the trash so I’ve never used it. Maybe I’ll try a wee spot on the back just to see how it does but I’m making a trip to the Auto Part store to get some 2000 grit paper so I’ll pickup some of the Meguiers while I’m there.

Cheers.
