Well I have my 2008 MIM HSS strat and my red 25R frontman....I like the settings on the strat to the second setting on the tone switch and everything on the frontman set to 5 except the reverb...that is set to 10...I'm starting to mess with different tone combos.

I'm still chasing down the right tone for us. I primarily play my basses (both with flat wound chromes) into an Ampeg BA 112 amp and they sound good; and the wife usually plays the Tele and Strat (and her hollowbody Ibanez) into a Fender Acoustasonic 150. It's ok, but just doesn't give the best clean sound for the Fender guitars. Christmas is coming and I'm seriously looking at the '65 reissue Twin Reverb for her and maybe a Fender Bassman setup of some kind for myself.

Well, I have a Squier Affinity Stratocaster and Fender Mustang I V.2 Amplifier, and I get a good, fat and crunchy tone through it by using the 3G Preset (Bassman). I cleared all the effects in the preset, and got a good tone by adjusting it and playing with it on Fender FUSE. If someone of you knows Red Hot Chili Peppers' song Soul To Squeeze - I recorded myself playing its Guitar Riff while using the Bassman Preset and a Deep Chorus effect (it's built-in on this Amplifier), and here you can listen to it (it's only the Guitar that recorded - without a Playback):
http://yourlisten.com/%D7%90%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%90%D7%9C.%D7%98%D7%99%D7%A8%D7%A7%D7%9C%D7%98%D7%95%D7%91_100_fb/soul-to-squeeze-guitar
Here's the original song:

FX Chain:
Squier Affinity Stratocaster (3 Single Coils, in this song I used Bridge Pickup all along) ⇒ Dunlop GCB95 Crybaby Wah (bypassed; not in use) ⇒ Boss DS-2 TURBO Distortion (bypassed; not in use) ⇒ Fender Mustang I V.2 Amplifier (built-in Chorus used all along)

That's funny..I didn't know that. I have an elaborate rig but the majority of my "bedroom" playing is done on a simple Champ, Gain set about 8-9 with a Dimarzio distortion...it's surprisingly dynamic...haven't changed that in about 30 years.

It really depends on the venue and or type of gig and sound system and operators.

Small club perhaps a Deluxe reverb and a few stomp boxes
Super reverb, for country, blues and clearing out a dance hall at 2:30 in the morning in Bakersfield with a tele and ernie balls playing buck owens country polka (BTW it works better if it has four 10" JBL chrome domes) cuz they even clear out the cars that are rocking in the parking lot at 3:30 in the morning

Twin for ANYTHING...with reservations

guitars any? any, but fenders work best with fenders cuz Leo liked it that way

tele , jazzy strat in any of the above
