Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I completely respect you opinion. I have not used this interface, but an analog to digital converter is necessary for digital recording. I know, many do not like digital and that’s cool, if you are one of those this is not for you. Also, as a learning tool I can say from experience it is wonderful. One of the best benefits to having quality teaching software and your guitar plugged into your computer is the computer is always listening. It tells you every time you play something wrong. It will tell you if your bends are flat or sharp, or if you missed a note. You can slow things down if you are having trouble. I took lessons when I was younger for piano and drums. I found it very frustrating to go to a 30 minute lesson and have the teacher give you something new to work on, and then the next week have them tell you that you are doing wrong. A whole week of practice wasted. With the computer that does not happen, it is always there and will correct you. I know some people still would rather do it the old way, and I think that’s OK. I love having my guitar plugged into my computer. They also have amp and effects modeling software the will simulate many different types of equipment, your computer becomes your amp and effect pedals. :D

But it will tell you that even when you do it on purpose. If you want it to sound exactly like a computer would play it, then just plug in the sheet music / tabs and have the computer play it.

One thing is certain: A computer would see a lot of problems with what JH and SRV played.

That's different, how? I can slow down just fine when not using a computer.

I have yet to hear a good computer simulation of germanium fuzz through valves, for example.
Or a talk box.
Or an expression/wah pedal - do you put a touch screen on the floor and drag your big toe up and down?
How about tap-delay? Your toe again, or perhaps your elbow?

Anyone familiar with the software that comes with it?

I love old school myself. But I don't see how that would stop be from trying new things. Clearly you are missing out.

I have one and no matter what I do, while the computer can hear it - yet I can't... I don't know if it's the software or what, but even when you plug it in to the USB - it doesn't show up anywhere. I followed all the instructions and trouble shooting guides to the letter also.

You're supposed to be able to download some free Amplitude software - which I did, it turns out that it's a trial and as there isn't any serial for it.
I will keep going for a bit longer with it, but right now it's looking like a complete waste of my money.
I may be wrong and get it all working tomorrow... but I've had no luck yet in the couple of months that I've owned it.
