No question in this thread, no debate about anything, just a great bit of slide playing for you all to enjoy.

Yep. One of the best of the best ever in the history of forever...and there's no hyperbole in that statement.

Sonny Landreth is the Greatest Guitar Player most people have never heard of... !!!

Sonny's now 62 and has been playing all his life.

Most of that has been in Clubs down in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and New Orleans.

I've known Sonny for many years and have seen him play literally dozens of times going back to the 1980's... saw him 4 times just this year !

Spent time with him before and after his show at the Rock N' Bowl during JazzFest.

If you really wanna see Sonny at his very best, catch him when he's playing with Tab Benoit (also no slouch with a Gitfiddle in his hands).

When these two Boys from the Bayou mix it up, the delicious result is greater than the pair of them... they feed off each other and truly kick it !!

cheers!

Mud, if you go, you going to the Iridium Jazz Club? I know he's there in August. I saw him at the Iridium with John Mayall. It was the second time I saw him. He's amazing. If you haven't been there, the Iridium is a really small club. I saw Les Paul there a couple of times. I usually get there early and sit right up at the stage. The food there is good but City prices.

Yeah it is definitely on my radar, it is at Iridium, I have never been there. Thanks for the heads up on the size of the club, if I make it, I will get there early enough to get a table and have some of their City Priced Food

Mud, if you can go. The Iridium is really intimate. They have tables set up and everybody has a blast. I met some really nice people there. Sometimes a "special guest" will show up. Even if you have a ticket, seating is first come first serve. The tables against the stage go quick. Eddie Van Halen, Slash and even Keith Richards have shown up.

Sonny at the Iridium with John Mayall. I had the VIP seats. Well worth the extra few bucks. They wouldn't let me use flash at all.

That's the same show I was at Chrome. I was to the right of the guy shooting the video. Rocky Athas was the other guitarist. He a great player but he was using a HRDlx or a Blues Deluxe and his tone was painful. I was pretty much right in front of him stage right of Mayall. Probably a rental amp. If you weren't right in front of Rocky, he was lost in the mix. He was a bit of a show boater too. He was still really, really good. He kind of turned it into the Rocky Athas show. Seemed like he was trying to compete with John and Sonny. Million notes per second kind of stuff. Not really my thing with the Blues.
