Whenever I hear that one Tony Bennett song (can't remember the words but I know the melody I think of Atlantic City). Maybe someone out there can remind me of what I am thinking of. Maybe someone else thinks the same thing I do.

P.S. - Atlantic City = Overrated!!!
New York is a little overrated now too, it's too family friendly, it's not a "real" city. It's full of tourists now. Just a thought.

I've always thought Atlantic City was a pit. Haven't been there since the 80's though. Yeah, NY has changed. Where's the danger? Where's the dude selling nickle bags in Times Square? It's for the best though. When I was a kid growing up in NYC it was pretty nasty. Burned out hulks of stolen/stripped cars lined every highway. Litter everywhere. It really wasn't very safe. I do miss the green, cherry top cop cars though.

ceri are you from new jersey? i'm from a town call'd Moorestown New jersey

Really trite, but 'am a life-student of history. They play in the mind when there....

"Yankee Doodle" with Boston, Lexington, Concord

Theme from "The Longest Day" with Normandy, France

"Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "Dixie" with Gettysburg battlefield, one of the saddest places on earth

"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" with Pearl Harbor

"A Nightingale Sang In Berkley Square" with the Royal Air Force Museum North of London (site of a Battle Of Britain Fighter Command field)

"Where Is Your Heart" (theme from Moulin Rouge) and "Vincent" with Paris (Starry Nights is in the Louvre)

"Ave Maria" with Notre Dame De Paris

"Anchors Aweigh" with Annapolis (US Naval Academy site)

"The Streets of London" with Greenwich, just outside the city

"Sweet Home Chicago" with the fine metro which is home

"The World Turned Upside Down" with Yorktown, Virginia, where Cornwallis surrendered to Washington

"Men of Harlech" with Isandlwana / Rorke's Drift, South Africa

"New York State of Mind" (Billy Joel) always reminds me of NYC.

"Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" (Gloria Estefan) definately reminds me of Miami.

"In My Life" (Beatles) reminds me of different places that I've been. ("In my life, I've loved them all.")

"Born To Run" (Springsteen) always reminds me of the Stone Pony at Asbury Park in NJ.

I hear ya. I did a couple of gigs at The Stone Pony and you could almost feel the E-Street/Jukes vibes in the rafters. Ocean Grove doesn't ring a bell, but I recall gigs around Point Pleasant and another boardwalk beach club near Lakewood, NJ. called Seaside Park (I think?). Have a lot of great memories from that area.

Well I'm not the globe trotter type but one song reminds me of my childhood. I was about ten years old and at my grandparents place when I heard the most strange sound. Music was not the thing in my family and it took me a few years to come accross that song again and to know the band. It was Hello Goodbye by the Beatles, and the crying guitar was of course George's. That sound woke me up. Maybe I'm not the virtuoso oriented type of guitarist fan (well sometimes), but when the feeling flows, it works fine for me.

Cheers

I hate to over state the obvious but Oh Canada reminds me of Ontario, When I went there the first time they were playing it in a loop at customs.
