Hey all,

Some Fender guitars and amplifiers have come and gone over the years. However, many have resurfaced in later decades for future generations of players and fans of unique, limited-run instruments. You may remember seeing the Starcaster® and Coronado guitars, Fender's short-lived segue into the hollow-body market beginning back in 1966, make a triumphant return last year, for example.

Well, we're all fans of a good reissue, as much as we are of remembering Fender's legendary past. So tell us:
Which discontinued Fender models would you like to see make a comeback...and why?

Thanks everyone for your participation in the forums, as always!

Bring back the Boner basses!

Most folks love that Blanda stuff.

For the Artist series guitars: a welcomed return of the two former Yardbirds' axes in their original specs. There are a lot of people who prefer the Lace Sensors over the Noiseless pickups.

I would only add this '68 Telecaster bass Image but more like the original Precision bass with the heel adjustment and brass nut and the '65 Super Reverb to accompany the Fender XII.

Another vote for the Fender XII. I need a solid body electric 12. Please don't make me settle for the Dean Boca.

Also, I'd like to see the Master Series get another chance. Bring back the Espirit again. I'll buy one. I promise. Really!!

An American Vintage 51, 53 or 55 Precision RI would be nice. The fact that you can't get an American made Single Coil Precision is kind of sad. Especially when this company seems to have no problem churning out gimmick guitars left and right. For a company that says it takes it's legacy so seriously the fact that arguably it's most influential instrument is relegated to non-vintage spec import knock offs with inferior finishes and electronics is really disheartening. Maybe instead of looking to resurrect another gimmick that simply chases a competitors market that longs for inferior instruments. Maybe Fender ought to concentrate on what made it great in the first place?

THIS should be made as an American Vintage Model.

My vote is for the Fender XII also,it's the Fender XII-not the Gibson 1275 double neck as many believe-that was used in the original recording of "Stairway to Heaven" and also in the past few years Sixpence None The Richer used a vintage Fender XII heavily in all their songs-especially on their biggest hit "Kiss Me".The Fender XII with its single coil pickups sounds so much cleaner than the Gibson 12s and has that Fender quack. There isn't a guitar made these days that has the beautiful bell-like chime of the Fender XII and I would imagine if they were to be rereleased, the sales would be very brisk-as long as the cost wasn't out of whack.Maybe an MIM or Squier version along with an American Vintage Series- or whatever it would be called-would allow more people to avail of the beautiful ringing sustain of the Fender XII.

There are a lot of folks wowing a return of the USA Floyd Rose Classics. We already know these guitars were taken out of production in 2003.

The new reissues will have different pickups and a few special touches: a killer-sounding combination of Custom Shop Fat '50s single coils and Modern TwinHead humbuckers - coupled with an S1 switch and a Passing Lane button for even more knockout tonal options.

Available in HSS, HH and HSH configurations, with the choice of compound radius rosewood or maple fingerboards.

FMIC should re-introduce the Vibrolux Reverb Amp to its regular-production vintage blackface line-up......

Image

There are circumstances where the otherwise-versatile Deluxe Reverb lacks the grunt for some larger venues but the more powerful Super Reverb and Twin Reverb are overkill. The VLR's 35-watt, 2 x 10 platform is ideal for these scenarios. As with the other members of the corporate BF line, the re-issue should be a straight-up adaptation of the traditional circuit (in this case, the AA964 revision), employing contemporary manufacturing technology to keep the price point reasonably affordable. Premium speakers from Weber or Eminence would be desirable.

As far as amps go. How about either a vintage reissue of the old 70's Silverface Bassman 10. (75 Tube Watt 410 Combo) Or even a Vintage Modified version with the 75 tube watts but the two channels from the current Bassman Pro series (Vintage and Modern) instead of bass and normal instrument? Seriously. Issue it and I'll pre-order it right now.

Now is the perfect time for the return of this forgotten classic.

+1

The Vintage Modified silverface series needs further expansion with piggy back head/cab outfits in addition to the existing combo amplifiers.

Regarding the Bassman 10... would be happy if similar combos (Quadroverb, Super Six) came into surface?

I think the American Floyd Rose Classic Strats, Foto Flame and 50's & 60's HRR Strats

Image
Also Lace Sensor OEM pickups wold bridge the gap with younger players. Perhaps a resurrection of the Plus/Ultra line, staying true to their originals with some fresh appointments made in USA to replace the American Deluxe line. Key feature are actually using lace sensors and no gimmicky fandangled personality cards..

Please- no more Chinese reissues of American classics. I can see a Fender XII is a fantastic idea, we have recently discussed the Fender Performer- but I know it's probably going to be made in China with the rest of the Squiers in the same factory- and that puts me off anything. Make it in America with the AVRI line and keep it true :)

With regard to models like the Marauder, telecaster plus and the Starcaster, when it comes to reissues why oh why do they have to be bastardised Chinese versions of the original product? :|

If Fender brings back the Laces, they should add their newer flavours in addition to the existing colours: Burgundy, Light Blue, Purple, Emerald and Hot Gold - both in single and "humbucking" dually formats.

I would be happy if Tele and PJ Bass Sensors made a welcomed return.

I don't think Fender having plans to resurrect the infamous Schaller Elite bass bridge with the fine tuners.
