Historically, Debbie Davies comes to mind. Currently....Ana Popovich. Susan Tedeschi is now sporting a 60's guitar. Beyond that, can't say. We'll just have to wait on our own Rebecca Laird, and hope.

I would never buy a signature model of any type with the desire/idea of sounding or playing like the namesake...however, if a particular model had the features I like (especially feel and cosmetically--I can change pickups to fit my needs), I would consider purchasing one.

For example, I love the neck profile of the SRV Strat--I would love to have a Telecaster with a similarly sized neck (with a Tele headstock, of course).

I've made each of my Fender electric guitars into my personal "signature" models...the pickups, switching set ups, cosmetics, etc., all reflect what I want out if my Strat and my Tele.

Having said that, the players I listed deserve a signature model due to their devotion to Fender guitars (yes, they play other models, but they're most known for using Strats)...I would add to that list Tab Benoit, who deserves a signature Telecaster.

I'd like to see a Frank Zappa "Hendrix" Strat done with his ingenious mods but not relic'd down to each minute scratch or melted plastic part detail to drive the price out of reach for us mere mortals.

I'd also like to see a Jeff Healey model Squier Strat equipped with his preferred Edwards pickups-if they are still available-or some reasonable facsimiles that were wound so that they could reproduce the huge, rich sound that Jeff's Edwards equipped guitars had.

A Phillip Sayce Strat would also be nice,he is one of the least known guitar Titans alive today and is an amalgam of Hendrix,Guy,Healy and Albert King.If you haven't heard him or heard of him just look into some of his many videos on Youtube and prepare to have your face blown away. The influences of the aforementioned guitar greats is unmistakeable but he has developed a style that's all his own as once you become used to his playing,it's unmistakeable when you hear it.

When I bought my Jimmie Vaughn Strat,I didn't know that it was a signature model as I had purposely tried not to look at the models of the Strat I was trying out.I picked it out of about 10 Strats in what I best could do about having a blind test.Without having a clue that it was a Jimmie Vaughn Strat,it was the Strat that spoke to me-although others came close, the Jimmie Vaughn had the sound that I was looking for.So hero worship played no part in my decision as I only checked the model name after I had decided upon it-it also turned out to be the cheapest model that I had tried that day.

Edit: I just noticed that I had made a spelling error that made one statement impossible to understand. I had used the word would instead of wound in the statement about Jeff Healey's pickups. The statement had read "....reasonable facsimiles that were would" instead of wound.

I'd love to see Fender re-introduce the Hank William signature Strat again. It looked great and sounded great, as well. Boy, I'd shell out anything to have one of those! Also, I'd love to see a Buddy Holly signature Strat. I mean, come on Fender, he was one of the first Strat players. Yes, it would be almost similar to an American Standard but it could still retain the 3-way selector switch popular in the 50s Strats, I guess. That would give it some uniqueness. :)

Hank Williams?

I'm pretty sure he started his dirt nap before the first Strat was ever produced.

I'd like to see a Mick Mars Strat..

He has been playing Strats since the 90's, only thing is I don't think Fender would oblige to putting gibson humbuckers in them

Who and where are those female Strat players?

Well, there is this one:

Not that it would need a signature model, because it appears pretty stock.

Miley is a naughty chick, I don't care for her to have a signature model!

I'm completely disappointed after seeing those filthy tongue-twerking scenes with Robin Thicke during the most recent VMA awards, definitely NO!

One of his Strats is actually different than the Custom Artist models Fender actually produces as it sports a black bobbin humbucker in the bridge position in place of the traditional 3 single coil setup.

I'm sure that there's not a restriction clause with respect to the way his guitars are set up.

I wonder if a manufacturer could have a restraining order issued to prohibit any association between their brand and her image, if they thought said association would be detrimental.

Fender already does several Avril Lavigne models, so I don't think a Miley Cyrus strat would ruin the rep any more. But who would buy it?

I'm familiar with the name, but not her game. Would you dump her into the same waste bucket as Cyrus'?
