Hey people, just thought I'd let you know that I've posted a video comparing the sounds of two strats, but one maple neck and one rosewood neck.

I hear a difference, let everyone listen too and let me know what you think if you have a youtube account!

I can hear a slight difference, but nothing major in my mind. I like the playing as well. Good stuff.

there rosewood neck is darker, but the thing we must consider is that no too set of pu's are the same.

the only way to truely test this theory(which imo is correct) is to change necks on the same loaded body

Thanks very much buddy. As people always say, MY PLAYING WAS RUSTY. Rare are the occasions when I play guitar like never before. "In the zone" I think it's called!

Yeah, I heard a difference but using two different guitars kinda changes the parameters.

I use to think rosewood was darker too but that theory has seem to have faded over the years. I agree with flamekaster, and cryingstrat, the only true test is to swap necks with the same loaded body

Tried cranking the test a bit over the stereo, I'd say the body and bridge is enough to make that difference.. If what Fender say is true both the bridge and paint on the '08 body should give it more sustain, which I would say it has, but that also makes the test unreliable

I agree on changing necks, it's the closest you can get to nail this myth, though there HAS to be just as big a difference between two pieces of maple as with any other wood, so not even that would end the discussion once and for all

I have to agree with the others that say you'd have to swap the necks to get a better result. Although, ultimately it would be best if you could just swap the fingerboards and use the same neck.
