Hi all.

I would like to get some advice on a good loop pedal that doesn't require me to sell a kidney.
I only play for myself, I do not gig nor play with friends at this time, my plan is to use this pedal to play songs that require two or more parts.
The one I am looking at is the TC Electronic ditto X2 loop, it had more features and can download to and from your computer, and I can get a new one for 170ish.

I know there are 4 or 6 channels one but really, i can't justify spending 4-6 hundred on a toy.

Is there one that you feel is better?
If so please can you send me a link to research it.

Thank you.

+1 on the TC.

I used to have a Boss unit, but it had many functions and I spent more time having to learn how to use it than I'd have liked. It's nice that there isn't so much of a learning curve with the Ditto. Just kick it on and you're done.

I have the JamMan from Digitech that works great.

One of the things I really like is that by adding a 32GB SDHC card, you can record Jam Tracks and then play along. You can store up to 16 Hrs. of music on it.

It's slightly more complex than Plug & Play, but it's intuitive and you quickly learn it's functions.

Mine is the now obsolete Solo model which I got on closeout for $100. There are still a few of these out there.

cheers!

There was a lengthy discussion on the Guitar Player Mag forum about TC - I would not buy one based on that discussion. It's an excellent group of folks, no BS, and I respect their opinions highly. The gist of the thread is TC's warranty / customer service is horrendous so if you buy one of their products you're on your own. As to the looper itself several folks reported issues with the on/off switch failing in short order. Let the buyer beware...oh and there was an individual from TC involved in the discussions.

I've heard good things about the TC. If you get it from a place that is easy to return it, if needed, then no worries. I have not heard of them having any problems. I use my laptop, you can get an interface and momentary midi pedal cheap. I already had these things so I just used them. If I did not have the ability to loop already, I would go with the one button TC or Jamman Solo. They both look good. The TC looks so simple, that's attractive. The Jamman Solo can do some pretty cool things like storing drum loops to play on top of. As long as it does what you want, it would be kinda hard to go wrong.
