I like his playing but have always found him to be a jack off.

That happens here sometimes-someone will start a thread with perfectly harmless or innocuous intentions and someone is bound to come along and turn it into a slanderfest. Pete Townshend was vindicated years ago but some people just like to dig up old $@!& and spread it around again just to stir things up.

I don't think much of him, but if he was innocent- he wouldn't have had to put his name on it. -Just say'n. Usually famous people get off lightly.

Unlike thefts & assaults, Kiddy-fiddling & sex offending never leaves your record. Not here anyway, and for good reason. Communities have a right to know if one lives down the street. That's what registers are for.
Plain & simple really.

I guess he has now learnt to clear his browsing history regularly. But, meh- Happy Birthday, Pete. :|

Yawn.

Happy belated birthday Pete!

The thing I never understood about the Who, was both guys in the rhythm section played technically incorrect. You aren't supposed to hold the sticks like Moon, and binking away with your right hand fingers on the bass strings, is seldom seen to this day. Great band though.

Most famous players play "technically incorrect". Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Mark Knopfler, the two reverends Gary Davis and Billy Gibbons, and countless more - they disregarded what was technically correct for what produced the result they wanted.

If anything, I think Mel Bay and Hal Leonard have done us a disservice by publishing so many books that teach The One True Way(TM). There is no "technically incorrect" - there is "works" and "doesn't work". Limiting yourself to what's "technically correct" is like making love based on a textbook description.

Yes, but that is also true for innocent "famous people", too. And sometimes (as in this particular situation) it is hard for people on the outside (like us) to discern which of these categories that a suspected person falls into.
