I do love the modern C, but enjoyed playing a 52RI Tele with the fat U shaped neck. Definitely leaning more to the modern C.

Modern C for sure, My compared to my Les Pauls fatter neck this thing can sing.

It has to be a modern C, it just feels right and it works for thumb over and thumb at the back.

A close second would be a mid 60s C, especially on a vintage style guitar.

I wouldn't mind seeing some flatter fret boards as well.

Infact a few thinner necks with flat boards would be good I have a Suhr with an even C slim neck.

I can't get on with fat necks though.

In summary:

American standards modern C is spot on;
Vintage style mid 60s C;
Modern slim C neck with a flat 12"+ radius board.

My previous post stated the neck on my American Special, which has the modern C, and 9.5" radius fretboard. I have since added the American Standard 60th Anniversary model to my collection, which has the compound radius fretboard, 9.5" - 14". For me, that does the job.

The modern C is so neutral and comfortable it is the hands down winner in my book.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Once I had adapted to the thinner fret wire, I've become rather partial to the 7.25" radius "C" shape neck on my CS 60's Telecaster. To a person, anyone that has picked it up and played it has commented on how nice the neck feels.

For fenders I like the soft V and for Gibsons I like the 60s necks.

Big, whatever that means.

SRV Sig Strat's neck is nice, the old Jeff Beck profile is nice, too...the neck size of a Bass VI is cool. A classical nylon-string neck makes me happy.

A guitar with the neck profile of my 73 Ampeg Big Stud bass would be amazing...and that's 3/4 of the fat end of a Louisville Slugger!

Oddly enough, I don't have particularly big hands--in fact, my hands could probably be the true definition of "Medium/Medium Large"...

Having said that, none of my axes (outside of the aforementioned Ampeg) have a very large neck, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I've never had a neck profile quite like my 1992 Stratocaster's.

It's kinda between a soft v and soft c, but not wide like a c, almost like a thin super rounded c. It has a flat radius and vintage frets. Probably the most comfortable Fender neck I've had, and I've had many. I can honestly describe it as slightly fatter than my Guild.
