I finally pulled the trigger on a purchase I have been putting off. First, the showroom Sweetwater pic of the gitbox I chose.

Image

I love this guitar, like my modern player jag, the neck on this MIC guitar is flawless. No frets can be felt sliding a hand up and down the sides of the neck. Very smooth finish. The sound is rich and full of harmonics. It holds tune very well. A real blessing with twelve strings.

The overall sound has less depth than a higher end 12 string but, I was looking for a "take to campfire" jam type of thing. There is a lot of that where I live for the next few months. At $450.00 it is a decent sounding guitar, great to play and not an heirloom to worry about as eager hands wish to experience the delight of playing this guitar. All have commented on how nice the neck is. Low action and not a buzz found.

It fit inside of my acoustic Ibanez bass gig bag, so I bought another and put the villager in there. Throw it on my back and go. Last night I brought it and my acoustic bass out. Walked a half mile with them and back with no problem.

For my needs, this is the twelve string for me. The Fishman electronics make this guitar perform very well when plugged in.

Nice!

I have considered getting a 12-string acoustic, and looks like this one might be a good one to check out, good enough for learning, yet not too expensive. Sweetwater rocks! Congrats. 8)

The neck is very fast for this kind of guitar. Switching from my tele to the villager was almost seamless. Very user friendly.

I won't promise a sound clip but, it is my intention to get some sort of sample up soon.

Pretty!

I love that book-ended top. Spruce? Maple?

Rawk on!

Happy NGD!

Congrats--that's a cool guitar...I love how they used the old Fender XII headstock!

We'd love to hear a sound sample...

Sweet! Nothing else sounds like an acoustic 12 string. I have an old Ibanez 12 string from 1982 that I use much in the same manner as you do this.

Congrats Modwiz! A nice solid spruce top and a looker for sure. Enjoy the "Camping" and picking and strumming!

My second fave guitar is an acoustic 12-string. There are quite a few good players who love them.

I bought a Villager a few months ago, and I like it. I wanted to retire my old (1973, I think) Yamaha FG-230, and the Villager is my first "real" Fender guitar. (I also have a Squier Bullet Special and a Musicmaster Bass Amp, but those are stories for other sections of the forum. )

I ended up here because I was Googling around for ideas for a gig bag for it, and found this thread. I bought a decent hard case with it, but was thinking about something for backpacking it when I go to jam sessions. I might end up lugging my 6-string acoustic/electric and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff (gear, charts, etc.) to at least the first session I'll be attending in October*, so both hands could be kinda full as I head for the room where the sessions will be. Maybe I'll carry the guitars in their hard cases, and haul all the other stuff in a backpack. Or I might have to get one of those rolling hardware bags. :|

Maybe if I'm the only one there with a 12-string, I'll just bring the Villager to the sessions.

*"Organizing/facilitating" an acoustic jams course for the local Adult Education office. Kinda scary, but should be fun. 8)

I have an Ibanez acoustic bass gig bag. Fits just right.
