The weather is hardly conducive to sitting on the deck with a few buddies for a few strums,I looked out the window this morning to be greeted by a 2" layer of snow blanketing everything. That really boils my britches, especially when I see places just South of the border with temps in the 70s and even the 80s.This has been the coldest winter in about 80 years and still shows no sign of going away. The way things are going,it looks like I won't be having a Canada Day (July 1) jam on the patio because even if the snow is gone it will most likely be colder than a mother in law's kiss.

It has been a tough year. As a Winnipegger, I have to say I think of late it's been the maritimes that have been getting slapped worse than us as far a weather goes. But everywhere has its drawbacks. If it isn't blizzards it's tornados and if it isn't tornados its earthquakes, tsunamis, intense heat, invasive species, etc, etc.

I sit in my front room and stare out at the deck....daydreaming about sitting there and not getting wet and/or cold.

I am sorry to hear it, I grew up in Detriot, and moved to Western Kentucky. That was a big improvement, but not good enough, so here I am in Tampa FL. I have been here ten years and if I never see snow again it will be too soon for me!

On this very day 4 years ago I was sitting in the Grand Turk Margaritaville having a Margarita-which coincidently happens to be my preferred drink anyway,on the rare occasions that I do drink. This unrelenting cold is certainly bringing down people's spirits. What amazed me a couple of weeks ago was that we had a very uncommon break from the cold one day and the temps actually got up into the mid 70s for a very short time in some places that were out of the wind. While I was waiting to be served in a local store, the woman ahead of me said quite seriously that it was too warm for her-if she were a man,I would've probably hung one on his beak-for someone to complain about a couple of hours of warm weather that gave us welcome temporary relief from one of the coldest winters since the dawn of man,is just unfathomable.I suggested that she move to Baffin Island for the summer if the heat bothered her that much.

Yesterday....same here in North Central PA! A bit early for such as it's been one extreme after another here. It's been the coldest, sustained winter I can remember for at least 25 yrs. I told my friend to kick me in the $@! as hard as he could if I complained about the heat and humidity this coming summer.
