Would it be possible to plug in two guitars into the input on one amp using a mono Y connector?

Yes and no. You will hear both guitars but you'll find that turning the volume off on one guitar mutes both and the tone controls will affect both guitars. And if you you overdrive the amp then the effect will just sound like mush.

Yes , tone might not be same if only one guitar is plug.. Many low budget amp in the '60/'70 have few input jacks wire like this .

Yes. We used to do that many decades ago.

I used to do that with my brother. One guitar will inevitably be a little 'stronger', so you have to balance them with the volume controls on the guitars.

Just don't try to mix a guitar and a bass.

As long as you have both volume and tone controls turned up full or near full,it's doable. You would have better luck doing it by using a cheap mixer, but then again for what that could cost you-unless you could buy a used one very cheap-it would be just as well to by a used 2 or more input amp.

I did see a video clip of the surf rock band Los Straightjackets playing on the beach in Spain. They had one bass and two guitars plugged into one DRRI. So it's doable. And it sounded great!

Actually...
back in the day...

Image

... with this 1969 Mosrite Venture's Model BG-1000... 100W Solid State with two monster Jensen 15" guitar speakers...

Image

Image

... with two bass guitar input jacks... separate tone and volume controls with no effects...

Image

... and two guitar inputs with full effects, more tone knobs, reverb, tremolo, vibrato and built-in Mosrite Fuzz-Rite...

... you could indeed run a bass and a guitar and we did... a lot! And it worked!

Image

Of course, having two extension speakers with the same monster 15" Jensen speakers didn't hurt. That sucker was (and still is) a very loud amp.

Of course, this WAS back in the Good Old Days.

That is one super cool and super rare set up that you have there CRGM,it must put out a deadly signal.Do you have a vintage Mosrite guitar to complete the package?

Sad to say, when I had a chance to pick up a Mosrite Ventures Model guitar "back in the day" I foolishly settled for a Stratocaster instead.

I was younger and more impressionable back then and I loved all things Ventures, but they were using Fender guitars in the good old days.

I've been kicking myself for about 40 years now...
