Zak Wylde's guitar was recovered at the Royal Pawn Shop in Chicago, Ill. in the same town where it was stolen. When Carlos Santana's #1 was stolen several years ago, it made its way across country and was recovered at Royal Music, in Brooklyn NY.

Are you thinking that Prince Charles had something to do with these thefts?

My take on it is that certain stores put "Royal" in the name to pretend to be classier than they really are.
Of course, real royals don't run stores, and my countrymen should have pride in being free men the equivalent of any royalty, so when I read a name like that, I substitute "Royal" with "Ox Manure".

That it happened? Or that someone actually noticed the use of the word "Royal" in both cases???

The other coincidence is that both Carlos and Zack were royally pissed when the guitars were stolen.

There is something weird about the whole situation. I read the shop was notified of the stolen guitar, but the owner "forgot" about the notification. They paid the guy $50 for it. $50 for an easily identifiable Gibson Les Paul. Apparantly this shop has a reality show based out of it as well.
Something shady is going on or its a publicity stunt.

The CPD distribute a list of stolen property to pawnshops in the city. I have seen a couple of these lists at my Bro John's PS "Division Gold" (on Division, gold because that's where the money is for PS's lol). When I guitar tech part of why I get paid is to protect the gear. If you don't want your gear stolen in the BIG city don't leave it unattended.

I noticed because I used to live in that area of Brooklyn and did business with Royal. The tale told of 'the idiot' was that he walked into the store looking to sell the PRS. The people in the store knew immediately what they were looking at because the word was out nationally. Whilst they were going through the 'slo-moe' of pretending to do the deal, the police were contacted. From other posts herein, there appears to be a question of the 'astuteness' of the pawnshop people.

Never liked much to do with royals. Every time one visits it costs the city $1M.

That's why having guitars stole is a Royal PITA.

As long as there are musicians and collectors willing to buy stolen guitars, guitars will be stolen.
To fight the problem, we have to say no, especially to offers too good to resist, and keep a watch out for each other, even if we don't like each other.
If Roy won't buy it, Al won't nick it.
