When I am not touching anything on the guitar and then touch any of the metal parts on the guitar (strings, knobs, tuner heads, bridge, or *even touch a guitar pedal) I get a soft POP sound. upon contact. However, if I am already touching the strings or something metal and then go to touch the guitar I don't get a POP...what throws me is that when I touch a pedal (metal foot-switch) I also get the POP.

EDIT - I just tested my Ric and it does the exact same thing so I guess I just never noticed it before. Must be normal

Could be a very normal static discharge.... in some cases.... and other cases may be an imperfect grounding in the electrical circuit of the instrument.
Some players tolerate a certain degree of noise and some are very picky... depending on the instrument.... and on and on.....

You could keep taking it apart and put it back together with high-end components until its perfect...like most of us....
But this is not advised if your not sure about what goes where.

If its really getting in the way of your playing, My advice would be to take it to your local guitar guru... he could tell you pretty quickly if its 'normal'....

Come to think of it.... post a vid, and we'll tell you....
