After all this, I think he's headin' to Scarborough Fair to pick up some parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme.

If your talking Colorado, or Washington state, that's a reasonable assumption. Perhaps he's already been there and returned. 8) 8)

It's strange (ironic? Funny?) to me how many of the "enlightened love and peace" artists have had domestic assault charges and allegations brought up against them, and how many of the "gentle" soft rock/pop artists are seriously angry people.

That's becauses 'reality talks' and 'bullshit walks!' Like Springsteen, who admitted to having worked real hard at being classified 4F to avoid the draft back in the 60's, to ultimately reap the fruits of being able to pursue his music whilst 50K American boys never came home from VietNam. At least Hendrix did his bit in the Airborne before pursing his career. I can only assume that Simon might not have made the height requirement. But as for the plethora of other male artists who bloomed and prospered during that decade, and never served, one wonders how and why, while the draft board was chasing the rest of our asses from here to eternity.

I wasn't thinking in that direction specifically, I was more thinking about the dichotomy of a "peaceful person" who lashes out...is it built-up anger or is it all just an act?
I know one thing, the "artists" who have been accused or proven to abuse women should be boycotted by all human rights groups immediately (no matter how angry a person makes you, you CAN walk away!)...yet some of those same people have celebrated the art or life of the a users, due to political affiliation.

Understood. However, artists often present a face to the world which we take for granted as positive unless we learn otherwise, which is why I turned the phrase in quotes. An example, directly off the top, is Chuck Berry. We all walked away with the impression that he was 'cool', but insiders [side men in particular] eventually let it be known that he was a 'not nice' person to work with and for, and he's done other things in the past which speak to his notoriety. Yet, he remains an icon in the entertainment industry. Similarly, with Ike Turner. Living life serves to re-enforce what sycophants will forgive their tin gods.

By that measure, if I accuse you of having abused women, you should be boycotted by all human rights groups immediately?
Two words: Due process.

And what about those who abuse men? Are men (and others) worth less than women?

I mis-spoke (mis-typed?) here...I am talking about documented abuse--not just accusations.

Women who abuse men are just as bad; however, we are (generally speaking) usually able to defend ourselves in a physical confrontation...and then walk away. Anyone caught abusing a child or animal in any way should be shot.

Ahhh!!!. It appears that Arth and I have found a subject of mutual interest and agreement. Now we shall see if Mr.Sterling's great 'misjudgement' winds up being rocketed to star status and featured on both OWN and BRAVO. She certainly appears to have acquired all the necessary trappings to carry her public image as such, being considered a 'hero' in her own right. Men need to come to learn why IT is called a SHMUCK, and how we come to be the facilitators of the lives of women such as she. And for WHAT :?: :!: :?: :!:

Unfortunately, that's often not the case. For one thing, there is quite often an age difference working in favor of the woman. Look at all the rock stars with younger women... Like Paul Simon here...
(And not just rock stars, yours truly too.)

Also, there is a risk of defending oneself being taken as abuse by a biased system, and the man going to jail, so it's safer to take it like a (beaten) man, bite your teeth and bide your time.
Or the assaults might be non-violent, but still damaging. Like a woman telling you she had an affair and loved it much more than the pathetic person you are. That's abuse that's hard to handle.

But perhaps most of all, domestic abuse of men is greatly under-reported, because so few men are willing to admit to it. That cut over the eye, that was from working with the lawnmower! That's much more "manly" than saying "my wife beat me".

Kinda reminds me of the feller I worked with years ago at a restaurant. His wife beat him and he’d occasionally come in with fresh bruises. He was trying to sell me his old car which would be my first car and one day, I was in the parking lot waiting for my buddy to get his paycheck (I had already gotten mine) when the guy pulls up with his wife in the car. He says “Hey this is the beast” to which I replied “oh nice to meet you” to which he quickly replied “NOT HER THE CAR!!!!”

Needless to say he came in with fresh bruises the next day. And yes… this is a true story.

You apparently, and fortunately if I may add, have never had to come to grips with the domestic violence statutes of your state. In NJ, for example, an order of protection against you, justified or otherwise, will be executed simply on the allegation and request of the plaintiff. It will force you out of your home until a hearing on the order at a later date. If executed while you were away from the premises, it means that you cannot re-enter same until the order has been vacated. This obliges you to have to secure other living quarters until that time, not to mention the cost of counsel to represent you. If you need certain possessions to carry on your life until then, you must enter your home under police excort to obtain same. Been there, done that, twice. Each time, the allegations were found to be false. There must be an underground handbook available to women whose relationships [married or otherwise] have struck a 'berg' and are sinking as to how to force your 'other' out of the house. The sad part of all of this is that there is no accountability for the abuse of the these rigorous laws, which were put in place to protect women in serious danger of physical harm or death. :?

It's obvious that I am not expressing myself properly, so I will refrain from this conversation further.

I advocate the harm of no person or animal, except the persons or animals that are harming others.

So you can buy them a $50k car, and if you're lucky earn enough brownie points that way to buy yourself a $2.5k amp? :D

All in all, mistresses are cheaper than wives.
