Yes I know you think the topic was deceiving, as you thought this would possibly be about Woman Woes. Well it is not, but in fact about my Fender Gear.

Just as I was finding that sweet spot and falling really in love and excited with the tones I was getting out of my LR Jazzmaster and SuperSonic Twin, I have had to start preparing my gear for packing and shipping to another continent. My life changing move to live somewhere else has possibly left me without musical gear to play with for up to 6 months. That will be hard to handle. Especially after I have just found that "sweet" spot in my sound.

Any one here battle to regain their ultimate tone after such a long time off?

Nah, in fact, it can be good sometimes. I've had times off before. And when I got back to it so many fresh ideas came to me it created some very cool experiences. Some of the best stuff I ever did came after having months away from it. You'll be fine.

I've had a few moratoriums from the guitar (some self-imposed, others due to my primary career) but I always managed to resume playing without much trauma or difficulty.

Good luck in your new adopted home -- at least you won't have to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road. That would be a most frustrating experience!

Best wishes with the move!

You'll be fine...it'll come back like ridin' a bike.

I have had several stops and starts with playing music much like Arjay due to deployments and moves within my career.

The hard part wasn't getting my tone or chops back, but leaving a good band and finding the next one after the move. I may be a picky old PITA but if I don't like the other band members I don't hang around with them too long! The weird part is every time I ended up in Florida I always found a good band pretty quickly!

Good luck and enjoy your new surroundings.

I hear ya, I already had to say goodbye to my band this week. I hope I won't have too much of an issue finding a new band in my new location. The upside is that I have been dreaming of getting a Precision Bass, so if I can't find a decent band that needs a guitarist, I will buy that bass for my home enjoyment and also double my chances of finding a band by looking for guitarist and bassist slots. That's how I got to be guitarist in my last band, by first being the Bassist :)
