I hate to sound disparaging, but at times, this forum can be anything but helpful.

it is what it is...

my AVRI 69 Thinline Tele has a rear strap button that is spinning...the screw doesn't spin but with button spins around the screw. It is almost like the button wasn't tightened flush to the guitar but still seems stable.

Typically this would worry me but since the screw isn't moving and just the button can spin, should I take any actions?

I don't want to install anything if its not necessary but I move around A LOT at shows and I gig frequently...should I be concerned about the button spinning?

Hi teleric, nothing to worry about. A felt washer or two should tighten the button and keep it from spinning. :D

I'm going to try to do something like this but without removing the screw. I'm thinking I will try sliding a felt washer with a slit in it so the felt can wrap around the screw and have sit under the button. The screw is so tight and secure that I would rather not mess with the integrity by removing it and having to screw it back in.

removing that screw and then putting it back in really isn't that risky.

hopefully a felt washer helps you sung it up, but at the end of the day, I think you're OK of the screw is snug.

cheers!

Dear neighbors,
today's word is "redact". Can you say that? I knew you could. Sure.

Yes, listen to Rob Schwarz and be sure to censor any text that might offend someone or else is plusungood, or else Big Brother may do it for you.

Teleric, I think you got dished out an unhealthy dose of the uptight side of this forum. But, saying that you want to try to fix this without removing a screw is no way to get taken seriously. I hope the felt washer does the trick. Good luck, and don't let us scare you away. I'm pretty sure our bark is worse than our bite.

I don't see how this is a problem, the button on My SG spins, and I fitted Ernie Ball straplocks to a headless I Built , and they spin freely (allowing the strap to swing freely, but secure).

If it really bothers you add a felt or rubber washer, or the lazy solution super glue.

I could care less about the $@!&#. on this forum...I wanted to make sure my guitar was good to go when I'm gigging. On all my guitars I have never seen this before and it obviously worried me, hence the creation of this thread. I could care less if people here take me seriously or not, it was a pretty simple question and I got some good suggestions from the forum users who did take it seriously. The people on here who need to be $@!&# and work towards 20,000 posts so they can feel like a "Rock Star" are the people that I feel bad for. They should spend more time perfecting their craft instead of cruising these forums and acting like a $@!&#.

*The felt washer that I slipped under the pin worked perfect, I loosened the screw just a bit to get it snug and tightened down. I Played a gig last night and if it was going to come loose it would have...(we are a punk band and I move around A LOT throwing my guitar in every direction)...held up great.
