I've had two TRRIs and one 70's silver face twin over the last 12 years or so. During that time I briefly owned a Mesa Blue Angel... hands down the most beautiful sounding amp I've owned. A few months ago I decided to really clean out some gear; amps, pedals, and guitars. I was finally able to pull the trigger on a new Mesa Mark V. I do still have my little SCX2 but I cannot wait to delve into my new Mesa. I hope that it's all I think it's going to be. I haven't actually played one and mine is due to arrive next week. I'll keep you posted. 8)

Much better, IMO. Can't fault you for holding onto the x2. There is something about them if you own one. My surf green one is a keeper.

Well, I got rid of the head but I'm keeping my tan combo. I have a little speaker swap on taps for it soon... a JBL K110. The Mesa is going to be an instrument unto itself and while certainly in a different league, I think the SCX2 is also an instrument in a box.

I have the new Mesa Boogie King Snake. It fits that description as well. Wish I'd had it 50 years ago. Had to be content with my Fender Concert then, now late of blessed memory.

I have played through multiple Twin Reverb amps, and even owned one for a while. However, I have never been able to bond with one properly. They just don't "do it" for me...when other people use them, I'm generally impressed, but when I play through one, it just doesn't translate what I want out of an amp.

Congrats on the new Mesa--are we going to get a sound sample when it's up and running?

Thanks for the cudos. There are videos on YouTube which are much better than anything I could upload.

I'm not so sure. You would never have been able to blame the amp, for one thing...

Randall Smith got his start modding Fender Princeton and Champ amps for the cogniscenti. This led to the Boogie Mark I which this amp replicates. Art Thompson of 'Guitar Player' magazine describes it as a 'super stealthy' gig rig that could sit on the front seat of a VW bug. The Fender Concert, with 4x10 Jensens, evolved out of the '59 Bassman and shared a cabinet of the same size, about the same weight as this Boogie. Pound for pound, and size for size, I reitterate, I wish I had it 50 years ago. There was never anything to blame the amp for, except for space and ease of handling.

I listened to a 12 minute demo vid and the amp is amazingly good. Its price is not unreasonable at all. I am not in the market but I did like the blue one. Costs a little more for the color but even at its price, this amp is truly worth it, IMO. It may cost a lot of money but, it is not expensive.

Tan combo is a nice x2. Who needs two anyway? The Mesa will keep you busy. :D

But you were presumably much stronger back then, and could swing it!

I'm looking for a lighter amp to use for practice and jamming, because lugging a 60+ lbs amp is harder now. I think it's gravity that has increased the last few years, and the government is covering it up. Anyone else noticed?
I have my Orange practice amp, but it's a solid state, so while it sounds great (certainly better than the Mustang I had), there are a few things I just can't do like on a tube amp.
I feel a bout of AAS coming on...

I have an Orange 50BXT which I bought to use with my Fender VI. It's amp enough for my needs...solid state or no. Should have warned you about the contagion factor of some of these posts.
