Hey guys :D :D :)
I'll be getting a new Fender American Standard FSR Stratocaster in the next few weeks. There is however one problem... I am torn between Surf Green and Sonic Blue. I love both colours, and I'm stuck on choosing between the two.

Would there be any benefit to owning one colour over the over? (for example rarity)

What are your views? Anyone have pictures of both colours for comparison?

I agree they are both really nice colors. Under lights, on stage they look similar. I nearly bought a Jeff Beck Strat in Surf Green. I was outbid at the last second by $6. :D
Having said that, I've since decided I like the blue a little better, so that's my vote. Really, you'll be happy with either one.

Just get them both
This question is more of a personal taste kind of thing, both are nice but my vote is the blue, I just like blue better than green, but that's just me

+1

I vote for sonic blue for the Strat. Surf green is cool too, but since the VM Jags came out in surf green, I find myself mentally associating it more with Jags. JMO, YMMV. But whichever you choose, you will probably be happy. :D

Fender makes a lot of FSR American Standards. I would hardly call any color rare anymore.

There are also many variant shades of SG and SB over various Fender models. You can easily find two Surf Green strats which look nothing alike based on age, how they were stored over the years and whether they have a poly or nitro finish, for example.

It seems the colours Fender have been using lately have been consistent with one another, though. Best to see them in-person before making a decision.

If you are able to find one, you may like an example in Daphne Blue, which is also a nice color on the eyes.

Surf Green moves me much more than Sonic Blue...I don't know, buy the color that matches your girlfriend's/wife's eyes, and be sure to tell her that's the reason you bought the guitar.

if she has brown eyes--you'll have to buy a sunburst!

There seems to be a strong affinity for pastel colors with Fender lately. I'm not sure whether this plays into the whole relic fad, and how pastels are perceived to be associated with the 1950s?

I'd love to see some darker colors, like Oxford Blue, or the return of Candy Cola.

Do Fender guitars really come in florid and jaundice?

It is probably the "geniuses" who try and figure out which colors are best for sales. Want candy cola? Check out the custom shop. Candy Cola can then generate more bottom line. Though I am not sure that color is offered.
