I brought my guitar into a tech to have him check that the S1 Switching system is working properly on my guitar and to check he took a screw driver and banged the poles with it at each toggle switch (to see if the magnets were picking up). Of course, by doing this he actually scraped a strip of metal off of one of the poles (the indented scratch is on the corner of the pole and the metal strip that was stripped off was stuck to the pole).

Is this going to effect my tone? Although he didn't strip metal off any of the other poles he could have scratched them up.

Thank you all!

The scratch won't make a bit of difference. I would let that "tech" touch my guitar ever again though.

+1 !!

It's the windings, not the pole, which make the pickup.

A screwdriver scratch isn't gonna change the magnetic field appreciably whatsoever.

But a Ham-Fisted Tech is a MAJOR NO-NO !!

cheers!

That "technician" should immediately seek an alternative career as a McFlipper in the fast-food industry.

Or maybe a career in the construction industry. Seems like he'd be pretty good at swinging a hammer.

A pity that NASA is no longer hiring rocket surgeons.

Thanks everyone. Next time I'll just rip the guitar out of the techs hands and leave. :/

Wow. Should have taken the screwdriver away from him and lovingly affixed his hand to the counter with it  >.>

I'm hard on my pole pieces, I admit, scraping and popping strings against them for ambient noises/glitches, but beating on them with a screwdriver?? No no...
