Hello from down under...

To start, I have three Fenders, both the Tele and Strat 60th anniversary models, and a Highway 1 strat...

Just found a problem with the anniversary strat though...

The truss rod doesn't do anything, which leads me to suspect a major reapir bill is in order...

Hello. Yep, sounds like you might have a problem there. Is it still under under warranty maybe?

Goodluck with it.

Should be still under warranty, as I've only purchased the guitar overseas last year...

So should be still good I would think...

Did you over adjust the rod?

HELL NO!!!

Besides, there wasn't enough relief to start with, so I just turned anticlockwise a quarter of a turn first, as good n00bz should...

Didn't move, and it seems there might be something going on with the nut, it doesn't move smoothly, as in when you turn, they nut "jumps", for the lack of better words...

Initially I thought, well, maybe the truss rod is loosen to the point where it can't be loosen no more, well, then I tried to tighten it a little just to test, didn't move either...

I would pop the neck off and see what happens. Assuming its not a deluxe it should have the standard truss rod, not the biflex. You are right that you don't want to force it, but maybe just a little help can loosen it up. I capo 1st fret, loosen strings, push / pull the neck and make the adjustment. Retune, check action, and repeat as necessary. Sounds like for a n00bz (I will have to ask my kids what this means  ) you are not doing anything wrong.

That's what I'll probably do, preferring the licensed repairers of course...

The repairer is some distance away though... :(

I might send it in to a authorised Fender dealer around my area, and ask them to help me send it over to the repairer...

And the anniversary is based of the American Series, the ones with the Delta Tone circuitry...

I better not mess with it anymore I reckon, as it probably still is covered by warranty almost with no doubt...

Less than a year old, and the truss rod was "broken", need I say more???

I suspect it's either a manufacture defect, which I hope it is, or the dealer that sold me this guitar might have messed it up or something, or it might have been damaged when my dad brought it over here, however, I made sure that he slacken the strings before packing and carrying onboard the plane, so I'm sure that it ain't my fault really...

I am sure its something easily fixed. Worse case the repair shop gives you a new neck.

If I have to replace the neck, it better read "60th anniversary"... :(
