He's just quitting (and dragging it out for a year) so he can finally get more attention than Jay Leno. Dave is a spiteful SOB who should have quit a long time ago. I think the last time I watched him (or tried) was maybe 12 years ago and I didn't make it through his monologue.

Neither.

I personally find Dave humorous (not hilarious), especially his earlier NBC show...but he's (admittedly) been mailing it in for several years now.

I think every one of the CBS Orchestra's members are crack musicians, but ultimately they don't move me when they play together, possibly because they're just playing specific covers and tunes for a brief period, almost like commercial jingles. I really like the playing of their guitarists, bassist and drummer...and if I were to front a cover band and had an unlimited budget, I would choose Paul Schaffer as musical director, because he is excellent at that. I've also seen him out of the context of the Late Show and was very impressed with him as a musical director and musician.

Ultimately, it won't matter to me, because I rarely watch late night TV on any station, unless there's a guest I want to see.

Since the advent of the electronic program guide, my routine towards all the late-night shows has been the same: I check to see who the scheduled musical guest is going to be. If it's somebody I like or want to see, I have the DVR record it and watch their performance the next day. If not, I skip it. So I guess the actual show is irrelevant to me.

I'd miss reruns of Seinfeld if they took those away

Big fan of Will Lee and Sid McGinnis, but liked the band better when they were "The World's Most Dangerous Band" rather than with the additional players as the "CBS Orchestra" - but Tom "Bones" Malone is a huge talent and have liked his playing since he was in the Blues Brothers Band/Movies.

These are all session cats and will keep busy. Will also plays in the Fab Faux. Always liked Anton Fig's drumming since I heard him on Johnny Winter's album, "Still Alive & Well".

Letterman started out funny, but now he's a bitter old pri*k. Paul has always been funny, he'll continue to work.

Letterman has less significance to me than the size, shape, color, and consistency of my turds.

Leno (like Carson before him) was a class act.

David will always remain on my "top ten list" of reasons why most broadcast television has so little relevance to my life.

I started my viewing with Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, and Jay Leno. Letterman was never in the mix.
