Anybody place an order yet? I love the idea but can't justify the price, plus I called them and if I don't like it there's a 20% re-stock. Ouch. Could be because mine would be a lefty. Sure am tempted though....

If they bring in nitro finishes I will order one. Until then I'm going to sit this one out.

Seems pretty cool, but it looks to me that when all is said and done you basically pick an american standard or deluxe (based on neck and pickups) but the price ends up being about $300 to $500 more than just getting one of those the normal way. Only way I could see it being worth it is if you REALLY want a deluxe (because of the compound radius, which I do, by the way) and just have to have it in a color that's not one of the standard ones, as admittedly they don't offer the deluxes in very many colors. Yeah then picking colors of knobs and pickguard lets you customize it.... I guess it's exactly priced right. YOu pay $400 premium for ability to pick exact specs of your american standard or deluxe strat or tele.

A 20% restock fee. There's deal breaker for sure. At least you get to play before you buy when you shop retail.

An extra $400 is just like modding a new guitar with new pickups and other "upgraded" parts.

I don't know about the modern options because I don't really have much interest in them. However, if you go through the vintage section on the Precisions you can basically build an AVS 58 Precision, with the correct case, for 300 less than street price. HOWEVER, you won't be getting a Nitro finish on the body. You likely won't be getting the vintage tone circuit (that's good question, perhaps I'll shoot FMIC customer service an email on that one), and you won't be getting the covers and case candy. To some that might not be a big deal. I'd rather pay the 300 and another 100-200 to get an actual AVS in a custom color. Instead of having to go the CS route and spend thousands just to get a bass in a color I want that's really a production run model.
