I have a cat that loves sitting on guitar cases. Don't know why, but it's her favorite thing to sit on. I have hard shell cases, so it does no harm. Only thing that has ever happened, is she puked on one of the cases she was lying on. No big deal, it just wiped off very easily.

I had one of my cats once spray a guitar book that I had. I had to throw that away. I generally have all my guitar stuff in one room, so to keep the cats out, when I can't oversee them.....I bought several motion detectors (at Radio Shack) and put them in the room. When the cats go in there, it sets off a loud alarm, and they go running for the hills.

my one cat does that too! thankfully no accidents or hairballs yet...

If it doesn't hurt the guitar case, then why not? It's one of their pleasures in life. Now the spraying of my guitar book (which I had to throw away) was another matter. It was that same day that I bought the motion detectors.

Another good one is: “Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.”

I was actually going to use another one......but I thought Fender would probably Zing me.

I put a piece of cardboard over the grill of my amp, just for that reason, after the cat got my guitar book.

My cat really doesn't get let into my room because she won't leave so I'm not too sure and my dog is an outside dog...

Maybe he's more of a Marshall kind of dog.

I got a story for you. My friend keeps a tarantula, and one day he thought he'd let it out for a walk in his room. Foolish boy. He lost the spider.

Then we had a band practice, and everything was going great, and then I saw creeping legs coming up from the back of his amp, it was the spider!! It had sat in the back of his Marshall JCM2000 all that time (about a day) and obviously didn't like the music so it crawled out.

"Um, mate there's your tarantula"

One of the funniest moments of my life!

It isn't a pet story, but a related animal story:

I woke up in the middle of the night to an annoying scratching sound somewhere in my room. i left the lights off and executed a search as quiet as possible (thinking it was a mouse) I soon discovered the noise was eminating from my crappy old acoustic that I began playing on. I quickly grabbed the guitar and shook it a few times to daze the supposed mouse, then turned over the guitar to claim my victim. It did not come out. after side shaking it a few times (those of us who dropped picks in the soundhole are familiar with this method of retrieval) I discovered it was not a mouse, but a bat! I got it outside and out of my guitar. it was understandably stunned and a little confused but otherwise it was fine. A bad case of not looking before leaping. ...or shaking.

I once had several bats make a home inside my walls. I had to call a bat exterminator to get rid of them. He showed up at my front door and said, "Hi, I'm batman." He was able to get the bats out and bat proof my house, afterwards.

Our Scottish Terrier likes to come in and lay down about 10 feet from the amp and sleep (and listen?). Her male same-breed predecessor did it too.

Neither one ever hurt any gear at all.

My pets are the opposite. They all run, when they see me start to get the equiptment, plug in the cables, etc. But for me......It's probably my sorry playing. Maybe I have a career with my guitar for pest control.

My dog will fall asleep in front of my amp sometimes. And when he does, I quietly turn the amp on. Then crank it up LOUD and hit an E5 chord. And he jumps so fast, it is rediculously hilarious.
