It would be ingenious to create a piano that can selectively damp certain key(s) only, while the unselected key(s) would stay not damped.

Still wouldn't do what a guitar can do... can't bend strings... can't vibrato... can't do the stompbox thing... cant do anything "Guitar" on it.
That's why most every other Musician whose main instrument is something other than a guitar... are a frustrated wannabee... Guitarist.
ESPECIALLY Keyboard players

Piano players, perhaps, but ESPECIALLY keyboard players tend to have at least one little joystick to do bends with.

Tell that to Edgar Winter who used to ROCK the hell out of a Moog synthesizer in the 70's. Same goes for Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

Those guys could hold their own against any guitarist, note for note, solo for solo. ...whammy bar, vibrato, pitch shift, distortion, ...everything!

I can't necessarily speak for piano, but when I first started playing in bands I envied the bass/guitar players for their mobility! Much more interactive with the crowds rather than in the back behind the drums.

Now that I said that someone will bring up one of these :D

No, I'll like to bring up Jon Lord, who walked his Hammond organ across the stage on a couple of occasions, while playing it. He had chops aplenty.
