The Delta Blues also comes as a 2x10 amp, so it's likely voiced for both. I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger one one, but I would have to order it in- nobody carries them around here. I'm in a quandry about which version to get... I LOVE the sound of the C30, and this is the same amp, just with tremolo ( a must in my book), and a different choice of speaker- 1x15 or 2x10.

True, if they sell with both 15" and 10" speakers, they surely would have been tested with both, and be good all-rounders, not too specialized for one size of speakers.

Man, ordering an amp untested is ballsy. Even with a return policy, if you have to pay return shipping or restocking fees, it might get expensive if it doesn't work out.
i've seen a couple of really tempting amps at Reverb, but have resisted, just because of the risk of my not liking them - they could be great, but not for my playing. But i really had to tell myself "no" several times when I saw a pristine older Ampeg there.

That's exactly what's been stopping me from buying one- well, that and the shipping hassles, and risks. I've read too many "XYZ lost./ broke my amp!!" threads to be fully comfortable shipping a purchase this expensive and bulky.

I am VERY happy with the sound of the C30, so I'm not really worried about that. Ah well, The C30 does have an fx loop, and I DO own a tremolo pedal...

It'd sure piss me off if a DB suddenly came available locally, just as soon as I bought the Classic 30!

Honestly, I would say you should try one out first. Especially if it's for the trem. Here's why I say that.

When you set the desired volume of the amp, you are essentially setting the peak of the trem volume as well. Think about it like this:

Draw a line. Then draw a bunch of "U" shapes under the line and touching the line at the tips, but never going above that line. That's the type of Tremolo the Delta has. The sound fades out, then back in never going above the set master volume of the amp.

My old gibson amp had a different type of Tremolo. It was more like drawing a line, then "U" shapes that go under the line and has tips that go a little above the line as well. Going slightly above the set volume peak gives off a different type of tremolo effect.

I'm not sure which one it is that you're used to, or what you prefer. Everyone has their own preference. I just wanted to give you a heads up on that aspect of the Delta Blues' Tremolo.

Although, the tips of the "U" shapes would be more rounded, it's not quite that sharp, I think you get what I'm saying.

Mostly, I've heard/ liked the Fender tremolo. The bias trem used in the Tone King amps is awesome, too.

My pedal is the standard Boss one. It has a shape control on it, to go from triangular to square wave, and everything in between. I normally leave it near the middle, but it has a lot of range. I leave that hooked up to my bass amp. Both of my Fender guitar amps have trem in them- a Mustang III and a Super Champ x2. Digi trem on both, and both sound fine to me. I do prefer the "vintage Trem" on the Mustang ( whatever it's modelling)

As for tube amps, I LOVED the tremolo on the Excelsior.

I'd love to get my hands on a Delta Blues to try it out for myself, but like I said- none of the Peavey dealers around me carry them. Never seen a used one, either. GC would order one for me- I could probably have it sent to the store to try there. I'm just imagining that killer warm tone of the Peavey classic with a real tube tremolo- it's sonic bliss in my head anyway...
