Took my Guild to my local tech, and if I buy all of the parts, all repair and maintenance will be in the low $600 range he says. That includes new tuners, a refret, a brass nut, copper shielding, new mini toggle switch, and a full setup.

I'll have it all together soon, so I'm pretty pumped.

That's great Buxom-since I'm a Guild freak too,I know how much you love that sweet old guitar. It should bring up the value of the old girl if you replace the missing bits and pieces with original Guild parts and don't mess with the finish if it's still the original.

Don't have plans to sell. The original tuners are pretty hard to find. Klusons are fine with me. Getting the white button ones as well.

I wonder if the mini toggle is a phaser or a bleeder. Quite a mystery, but I'm excited.

Anyhow, his price is excellent. I'm honestly shocked that it didn't break $700.

If anyone is interested, there's another S-70 on ebay now. It was made 3 before mine as well. (SN tells me)

Hey Buxom, when you gonna get some Fender gear to brag about? As much as your love for other cool gear is awesome, I would really like to see what you get up to with a Fender in your arms or at your feet!

These days, Guild is fully owned by Fender, so in a way, he does.
Although I think he should get a Fender Blender.

I've owned multiple fenders. The only one miss is the 1992 Stratocaster I had

The fact is, I just haven't found many Fenders I like these days.

Buxom did you try Allparts for the brass nut blank?DiMarzio used to make all sizes of them years ago..Have you tried almost everyboby's first go to:Stew-Mac? Here are some more that I found: http://www.qparts.com/ http:/wwwmannmadeusa.com/vg. you may try http://callahamguitars.com I'm not sure if they make nuts but they certainly make most of the other hardware needed to string a guitar etc. or http://montreuxguitars.com they have distributers all over the US and specialize in all kinds of guitar hardware. That's all I could dig up for now.If you knew anyone who worked in a metal working shop of any kind,it wouldn't take a skilled metal worker too long to shape a suitable piece of brass into a nut if you had the old one to use as a template-especially if they had one of the new fangled computer guided plasma cutters that can read and duplicate 3-D templates and even the actual items that you want made.

That's cool that you'll get your guitar back in good shape. I've always loved the bass variant of your guitar. I had the chance to come across one twice years ago and loved how it played, but didn't have the quid to get it. Now they cost even more money to buy. Just like everything else, I suppose. Whatever you do, don't ever get rid of your guitar. You'll wind up kicking yourself in the $@! years later. Guild made some cool $@!& back in the day, I think.
