Gonna see Tab Benoit & Sonny Landreth at the Rock N' Bowl during our annual trek to JazzFest... !! :D

These guys, along w/ Mike Zito on Bass, make magic everytime they take the stage together and the Rock N' Bowl is a terrific venue for them. I've seen them at least a half dozen times there... we were actually at this show in 2012 !

Enjoy !!

cheers!

Are you going to see Clapton play? I believe he's the last night. We've been thinking about making the trip but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out who plays when and where.

Yea... we're planning on seeing Clapton, he's the last show on Sunday 4/27 (1st weekend).

But, realize that the festival (at the Fairgrounds) only runs from 11am-7pm. Plus, you pay admission to the Festival ($60/day) and all the acts are Free.

Click here for the lineup and choose the day above to see everything broken down by hour: 2014 JazzFest Lineup.

We've been to more than 20 JazzFests, and if it's too hot, or raining, I'm well past standing ankle-deep in Mud or sweating like a Mule to see an act. If the weather sucks, we just won't go that day... have seen Clapton twice before. You can get tix the day of at the Fairgrounds, so if we don't go, nothing lost.

After a day at the Festival, we usually run home before 7pm (a gypsy cab we know picks us up), shower and hit the clubs 'til the wee hours.

Already have tix for this show, plus: Geo. Porter Jr., Dick Dale, Piano Nite, June Yamigishi, Jon Cleary, The Soul Rebels, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Little Freddie King + Guitar Lightnin' Lee, Amanda Shaw, Anders Osborne, Ivan Neville, Tom Jones, The Creole String Beans. We'll also see probably as many other acts again for the 18 days we're there.

What we most enjoy about JazzFest is the number of musicians in town, many of whom gig at clubs (Sonny Landreth and Tab Benoit will also be appearing at JazzFest the 2nd week). We know the city well and go to clubs all over the city - hardly spend more than a couple hours in the French Quarter, if that.

It's about the longest stretch Mrs. LMN & I are together all year, so we make the most of it. Every year, when we leave, we split up at the airport... I come home to MSP and she goes to Ponte Vedre for the Players Championship and doesn't return home for 15 days.

Because of our unique circumstances, we travel for free and stay for free, so Food, Booze & Music are our only expenses (though this alone usually runs into multi-guitar money).

cheers!

Thanks for the link, that helps. I'm pretty adventurous, but my wife not so much. Other than Clapton, I'd probably be dragging her around to see a bunch of acts she has no interest in. So, I doubt we're going to make the trip even though I keep bringing it up. It seems like a good excuse to see New Orleans, which we've never been to.

Lucky man! Dick Dale is one guy on my list I have yet to see play live. Although Dick Dale at a Jazz Festival is a bit of a stretch

Enjoy the show(s).

Dick Dale isn't playing at JazzFest, he's appearing at Howlin' Wolf in the Warehouse District on 4/23 - the day before JazzFest starts.

Besides, JazzFest isn't a Jazz Festival, everything in New Orleans is labeled Jazz... that's where the Utah Jazz got their name... they used to be the New Orleans Jazz...

cheers!
