Oh wow, it would appear that there's a bit of a scuffle going on over me. It's been a long time since that's happened!

First off, I am endorsed by Mojo Hand FX. But this endorsement occurred after I bought pedals from them (at full retail price, I might add). I'm not a salesperson, and I don't profit in any way, shape, or form from them or any other company. Whether they sell pedals or not has absolutely no affect on me whatsoever. I think that's what the terms of use are actually stating, that you can't advertise anything which benefits you directly, or advertise something that you're selling. If it were stating that we couldn't recommend our favorite gear, we'd all get banned for mentioning/recommending Gibson, Electro Harmonix or any other non-Fender brands, right? I have the logo in my sig as a nod to the guys over there, since they've been kind and supportive of me. Kind of like I have a page on my website devoted to the users of this forum, since you've also been so kind and supportive of me over the years! http://rebeccalaird.com/styled-8/index.html

Also, the link I posted of the pedal I suggested was of a used pedal. Again, not sold by me and I have absolutely no clue who the seller is/was. My point was to illustrate that you could find the pedal used in the OP's price range. If I were a part of any covert operation by Mojo Hand FX to infiltrate and destroy this forum, wouldn't it have been smarter of me to post a link to a pedal that they would actually profit from one of you buying? Even Mojo Hand doesn't get a cent from the sale of a used pedal.

Screamin Armadillo is right about how I recommend gear. If I don't like it, I'll tell you. If I like it, I'll tell you. Straight up, no bull, no "astroturfing". (Although I will admit, somewhat shamefully, to being a big Houston Astros fan.) The comparison to Danica Patrick made my day, especially when you consider that I'm a working class, community college attending blues guitarist who can't actually afford her own car or much of anything besides tuition and textbooks at the moment...

But anyway, I can see how my original post could be misinterpreted. I'll tread more carefully in the future, and I'll change my signature as a sign of good faith. Now quit arguing and get back to playing music before I have to offer you all a Jelly Baby! :D

Wow looks like most of the thread was hi-jacked and to some degree off topic. I tried a used generic fuzz pedal for $60 at a music store and I thought it really made a difference. It seemed to have it all "Hair" on top of "Hair" but alas it's no longer at that music store. :|

Was there a topic to this thread?

Your vague description here proves my point. ("'Hair' on top of 'Hair'"?Really? What does that mean? Give us a sonic touch point, man!)

All I can say is that I've tried the Big Muff, Fuzz Face and Fuzz Factory. Those are supposedly really great pedals but not enough actual fuzz came out of them, in my opinion. I have not tried the Rotosound Fuzz or any other boutique fuzz pedals, as I'm looking for something less expensive.

The ProCo '85 Whiteface Rat Reissue might serve your needs. A classic OD/Boost/Distortion/Fuzz pedal. Built like a tank. 3 large CTS pots (Distortion/Filter/Volume). A 2010 limited edition run was crafted employing a found cache of the much sought-after NOS LM308 chip. PM me if you would be interested in a nearly new (less than 5 hours of home use only) pedal with original packaging. Only modestly over your budget, but likely to increase in value.

That's a great answer...you want more fuzz than Big Muff or Fuzz Face.

Ok, have you tried a ProCo Rat? There's a few different models, so you may have to try more than one. The vintage (and vintage-style reissues) are the definitive snotty, spitty fuzz tone, IMHO.

Also, you might try the plain ol' Boss Fuzz...I'm not a huge fan of Boss pedals (although I like a few), and it is about as straightforward of a Fuzz as a person can get.

The only problem I ever had with a Big Muff is the mids are pretty scooped and it makes it harder to cut the mix. BYOC has a kit that fixes that. I'm thinking about building one to see for sure. http://buildyourownclone.com/effects-pe ... eaver.html

BYOC also sells some amazing fuzz, distortion and other classic kits. I've built about a dozen with no problems and they all sound great. And no, I don't work for BYOC, Egnater, Fender, Supro, CB Gitty, Fulltone, Danelectro, Stewmac.............

I'll take any recommendation from a forum member. We are all real people here, not millionaire musicians. Rebecca has a great sound and I really don't care who endorses her.

Univox Superfuzz clone? Doesn't get any fuzzier than a Superfuzz.

I don't think I'm looking for the Rat or a Univox Superfuzz. I'm wondering if that pedal I tried out at the music store was a DIY build. I guess I'll never know! :|
