I have no less than 10 fuzz/distortion/overdrive pedals in my toybox but no matter what songs I'm playing, 9 out of 10 times,I'll go back to using my old Big Muff Pi that has served me well since I bought it used in 1972 for $15.Even though it's an old pedal and has only 3 controls,it's the range of the pots that maks these pedals so versatile and able to fit into just about any song without having to rely on several distortion type pedals. You can't go wrong with a Muff.

Given that you have the logo and link to the company in your signature, the question is: Has Mojo Hand ever paid you or given you other incentives, like equipment or discounts?

If so, this is astroturfing, and my opinion of you dropped through the floor.
If not, you might want to change your sig so you don't look like you're representing them.

Becks is sponsored by MojoHand, but she has stated before that she only will use or recommend pedals that work for her (I'm paraphrasing there)...also, recommending a pedal that works for you, whether you bought it, stole it, found it, was gifted it, or it came down from the heavens in a floating soap bubble is not grounds for disrespect or lowered opinion.

when you represent a company, and then give a recommendation about one of their products, you are advertising. IMO that treads dangerously close to violating the forum terms of use. I wouldn't report it personally, but I don't think arth1 is in the wrong for calling her on it.

USE OF COMMUNICATION SERVICES

The Fender.com Web Site may contain bulletin board services, chat areas, news groups, forums, communities, personal web pages, calendars, and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable you to communicate with the public at large or with a group (collectively, "Communication Services"). You agree to use the Communication Services only to post, send and receive messages and material that are proper and related to the particular Communication Service. By way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree that when using a Communication Service, you will not:

Advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose, unless such Communication Service specifically allows such messages.

True, but she is endorsed by them--she's not an employee or a representative in the sense of the "Rule"
Also, she's not hiding her affiliation (hence, her signature).
Also, she's a straight-forward person who's not making much--if anything--from her affiliation.

I think a rule is being applied that doesn't really fit Texas Guitar Slinger's situation. She's pointing the applicant to a product that might fit his (poorly defined) requirements.

The 'rule' says "you will not advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods or services for any business purpose"

Endorsements are business. Just ask Danica.

Danica Patrick Net Worth - $25 million
2012-2013 Earnings- $15 M (Forbes)
Base Salary: $10 M
Winnings: $2.9 M
Endorsements Earning: $6.5 M
Major Brands: Go Daddy, Shamrock Foods, Republic Services

SA...don't waste your time, this is strings 3rd post of the day, telling people how they should run their lives or how they should behave on this forum...apparently he has appointed himself as a moderator!

T2Stratman, I'm simply pointing out that SA's attempt to moderate the forum (below) is misguided.

I just picked up an ehx Satisfaction fuzz. I own a bunch of fuzz pedals, but none that give me that '60s Maestro sound. If that's what you mean by "vintage style" fuzz, you might want to check this out. It's dirt cheap and there is no waiting list anymore.

I don't want to sound solely like the '60s Maestro Fuzztone, (like "Satisfaction"). I want more of a general fuzz sound with character. 8)

I don't agree. I think you and Arth are laced up a little too tight today.

What? You're rejecting yet ANOTHER suggestion out-of-hand, without considering or researching the pedal?!?

Color me shocked!!*

Seriously

Give an example of what sound you're after other than "hair". I think just about every major flavor of fuzz (Muff, Maestro, FF silicon, FF Germanium) was mentioned to no avail.

The ProCo You Dirty Rat is kinda "Hairy"

Also, the type of guitar/pickups/amp are going to affect the sound of the effect. Is the amp overdriven? Do you have an overdrive pedal before the fuzz? After the fuzz? Distortion? Before or after? Power amp distortion or pedal distortion?
Your rig will affect the effect just as much as it's design and/or manufacturer.
You're asking an obscure question in an inarticulate manner and seem to have no idea how to express what you want except in very vague terms.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the legendary and equally famous Ibanez Tube Screamer. It's not fuzz, it's not vicious death metal, it's a nice overdrive with enough bite to make any guitar/amp sound awesome.

Just my opinion...

Let me use my powers of deductive reasoning, and I'll assume Jim will say,

"No, I don't want an overdrive. I want a fuzz with some extra plimptiness and a bit of fiduciary rodentia...why don't you understand what I'm asking for?"
