Well I don't know, Jimbo, I just listened to this demo.
It sounds like this pedal colors your tone without adding hair rather than adding hair without coloring your tone. :P

And you know the rule, pictures or it didn't happen!

Well gosh, I guess it does color your tone and it doesn't have hair just like you said. But "Tone is in the ear of the beholder"! I didn't know posting pictures was a hard and fast rule.

That's why your non-description was annoying. You "heard" something you liked from something that didn't match the stated description.

However, since your chosen pedal died so quickly, you might have heard a device making "desirable" sounds in it's death throes, much like the "dying battery" trick used by various players, Duane Allman being most famous.

I misspoke (mis-typed): I meant "hopefully it won't die quickly" because many pedals which sound out of the ordinary or different from their normal, prescribed sound are either dying or perhaps "improperly" made, which can be a happy accident in the latter.

...and I was saying Duane Allman liked to put dying or low-voltage batteries in his pedals, which changed their response and sound.

And so as not to be a hypocrite, here is my new little purple funbox, along with my other three fuzz pedals.

Also, JMO, YMMV on all my previous blah-blah about BMPs. Some people love them!

I don't currently own a fuzz and had been considering either the Boss fuzz (which I have tried) or one of the MXR fuzzes (of which I have only tried one). Now that MXR has released the La Machine fuzz (which I have only heard in the MXR video demos) I am pretty sure that is the one I want. It's a little harder to find. I would love to try one before dropping the $140, but here in my neck of the woods, unless I give up have a day to go to a Sam Ash or Guitar Center (if they even have one) I will most likely have to take the plunge unheard.

But it may be a good consideration for you.

Update: Gave away the Danelectro French Toast to a certain forum member, still in need of a fuzz pedal! Any hints? :?

Usually the last post of a thread is the truest. :)

I picked it up a few months ago, and it's pretty awesome. But it's on the upper end of your price range. It has 5 knobs, but it is really easy to use.

That swollen pickle fuzz box sounds cool.i want one 8)

It's pretty rad. If you listen to shootouts of a lot of high-end fuzz pedals, most of them sound almost identical, you really have to be an aficionado to hear the differences. But the Pickle really stands out from the pack, it has a tone you can't mistake.

You could give this a shot. Another $50 Chinese pedal getting rave reviews.

Challenge accepted.

The latter has a permanent place on my pedalboard, where it does double duty of overdrive and fuzz.
