I may have misinterpreted the articles theme or intended message, however; being in my late sixties, having gone through the stages of maturing, or more accurate, aging; music has remained a part of my life. From my early high school years playing in a group, time in the military, college, marriage and raising a family, a work career and finally (at this point), retirement. Though never the number one life priority or goal over all else, it has always been important and satisfying a means of self expression for me. Music has contributed to the fulfillment of my life experience. Though I must admit, there have been periods where it has been in the background, I enjoy playing as I do, and I choose one definition from the Bing Dictionary, "something played for fun: an activity that people participate in, together or on their own, for fun.". As such, music can be any man's "game".

Hey The DC5 is going to be on WNED tonight est. Perhaps watching that will get you motivated. Meanwhile ill be practicing . No_ really you need a space to practice and to most importantly to leave your guitar out and ready. Just pick a song any song. Try it in different keys and different tunings. Get a friend over to tryit. It might just be amazing. I just figured out an arrangement for acoustic elec and bass for Neon Moon where i use open E tuning thatsounds soo good and different. Just anything thats a challange that might light a spark. Making your own arrangements are challanging and your own. GO FOR IT!!!

+1000!

My knees and back are now paying the price for years of humping Twin Reverbs and Dual Showmans around town.

Nowadays, if I can't get it done with a Vibroverb or a Deluxe Reverb, then it doesn't get done.

Unless I find a roadie who doesn't mind pro bono work.

That's as elusive as Sasquatch, the Easter Bunny and the Loch Ness Monster put together.

I forget the dream sometimes, but every time I pick up one of my guitars, the dream returns in full force and living collar. I'm only 70 and still "ALIVE".

I found it interesting.
It's not where I'm at--but maybe one day.

Could be fun.

I do get the part about being content making music.
I also have never given up playing, although due to life there have been times I have played less than normal.

Well it all depends, as your thread is too general to say one way or the other, in my opinion. My thinking is the younger the person, the more creative the person tends to be, in my opinion of course, as stated previously. That is especially true with myself.

I have to admit it. I miss playing with a band. The work part never bothered me much. A lot like what I do 6 days a week. ( moving heavy equip. Etc.) I never wanted fame but I would take the fortune. I never sought out a band. It was always invitation and I thought that was kinda cool. Now, at 46, I just don't think I could do it on a regular basis. (Playing music that is. Ahem).
I live my rock star dreams through my childhood buddy who plays regularly in a very successful cover band. That's good enough for me.
I do still turn up way to loud and stand in front of the mirror and do Steve Harris moves.
