I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but according to Walter's Facebook page he has full-fledged liver failure.

https://www.facebook.com/waltertroutband

Nothing I can even add to that, other than my most sincere best thoughts and prayers.

That sucks I'm a big fan of his. Prayers are being sent his way. He has much more to give.

Any former bluesbreaker is someone worth listening to and hoping for the best for.
I hope they'll be able to match a liver in time, and extend his life.

Don't forget... Walter also played with Canned Heat !!

Just saw Walter last Fall... actually bought him a beer at the break... Sorry to hear he's fallen on bad health.

He's in our thoughts and prayers.

Didn't Canned Heat get disbanded pretty much so the members could join Bluesbreakers?
Anyhow, great music, great times. It's what pretty much defines Positive Blues for me.

Very unfortunate news indeed. Mr. Trout is an extremely talented Guitarist.
Best Wishes to him and his family.

He and Gregg Allman both need liver transplants, but
Walter looks very sick here:

Sad news. I hope he is insured and will receive the best treatment, then make a full recovery.

Earlier this month I saw a photo of Mike Clarke, of the Byrds, near the end of his life. It was rough, man. I guess when they say "Name yer poison", it's no joke.
Let's take care of ourselves.

Alan Wilson and Bob "The Bear" Hite were the founders of Canned Heat and both died young of drug overdoses. That was the end end of Canned Heat. It's a shame. All these guys lived hard, fast lives. The best thing to do is stay away from drugs and alcohol. I have quite a few musician buddies who suffer from liver damage, kidney damage and diabetes from all their past abuse. It's easy to get caught up in the lifestyle.

It's ironic how people who've live their lives on the edge, and developed the debilitating diseases which are a result of their excesses and abuses are intervened in the attempt to move mountains to rescue them from their fate. I suppose its a credit both to the human condition, and their notoriety, that they are not left to the 'as ye so, so shall ye reap' scrap pile where so many other lesser knowns have been thrown..

I think "judge not, that ye be not judged" also applies.

In the case of Walter Trout, he has been sober for two generations now.
Your youth presumably was spent doing calisthenics instead. Good for you. Now please let people show concern for Walter Trout even if he was a bad boy a long time ago. He has given us much, and I don't feel bad about giving back a little.

Other than assuming, incorrectly, how I spent my youth, you've pretty much reitterated what I had to say.

Hey everybody,
As a big Walter Trout fan I am so pleased to see the support that has been shown by so many people and organizations. I think a lot of them came up with different ideas on how to raise the needed money, but here is the latest one: Pedals with a cause. 17 manufacturers contributing with 20 pedals on an E-Bay auction. There it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walter-Trout-Ch ... 3cdf108e98. It’s so great and relieving to see so many companies and people contribute with anything and everything they can. Faith in humanity restored.
Go bid!
