I'm late to this party and haven't posted in a long time. I see my friend strayed has some good input. I just want to say this is a great idea. I would only add my name to the more colors list. That said, I made a 2 color sunburst with tortoise shell pickguard and rosewood board that may seriously get ordered.

Hey Fender folks, could you please update the Forums as to the response to this new program? Curious if it's a success for you which I hope it is! Thanks.

bummer they don't have more neck options...

I want a maple + 7.25 + modern C + vintage frets, just like my AVRI 69 Thinline. Best neck ever.

Good idea very poorly executed.

So few options- it's very generic

If you want more options you've to chose the Custom Shop route!

Exactly.

There's been so much bitching & whining on bass forums, social media etc. about this. I don't get why people can't grasp that ADE is not going to have the options that the custom shop does. :?

You both do realize that no one here is asking for CS options, right? They are simply asking for options available on production run guitars. Parts that are mass produced. I don't see anywhere where anyone asked for custom routing, or tone circuits. People are asking for parts that are already used on the factory floor everyday to be included. If you can include the body from an American Special, and the Neck from an American Vintage instrument. There's no reason you can't include the body from an American Vintage instrument as well.

Acknowledging that if too many options are available, it basically makes this redundant with the Custom Shop, I too would be just fine with an expanded color selection. Sure, I would like to see a few more vintage pickups as well, but I can always order those separately if I really wanted them. An expanded color selection would be my only real request (Sherwood Green Metallic, Sea Foam Green, Daphne Blue, Sonic Blue, and Teal Green Metallic would probably be my top five that aren't currently available).

I'm still planning on getting a Candy Apple Red strat first, though. :)

I think the online design experience is an absolutely fantastic idea. Especially good for us lefty players. Very innovative and forward thinking. Can you imagine Gibson doing anything this customer oriented? I think not.

I look forward to seeing how this develops and of course hope they will expand it and offer as many options as possible.

My only caveat is what if I don't like it, can I return it?.

Sounds like a lot to ask for. I know if I bought a special order guitar I wouldn't expect to have the option to return it, unless there's a defect of course. Be glad they're actually offering this service. It's the best idea I've heard in a long time.
