I wish Fender would stop just re-issuing, but come out with new lines. Too much of the same old. Not that there's anything wrong with the old - many of the old ones were brilliant, but there should be room for real innovation too. And by that, I don't mean 25 year old tech retrofitted into a 50 year old guitar.

That said, if there is one re-issue I would like to see a special run of, it's the Katana. it's different enough to stand out. I'm not sure we need fifty different variations of 50's to 60's strats that are all basically very similar with minor variations, when there are no re-issues at all of the models that truly were different.

......that, and the Performer, with a newer idea for a headstock design. There's one floating around presently that would do fine, if the former Custom Shop luthier who designed it hasn't copyrighted it yet.

I've never heard the real one, but I've read that it was very weak and cut volume.

To an extant, this was true. The Vibratone was intended to be used in conjunction with a guitar amp's standard complement of speakers, either a combo or a piggyback. It was connected to the amp's normal speaker output jack then the amp's regular speakers were plugged into a special connector furnished with the Vibratone. When it was engaged with the special two-button footswitch, a crossover network routed the mid frequencies to the Vibratone but channeled the lows and highs back to the guitar-amp's speakers via LF and HF bandpass filters. Thus the lion's share of the amplified guitar signals were sent to the Vibratone's single 10-inch or (in later versions) 12-inch speaker. The loss of overall volume was significant but could be compensated for by miking the Vibratone.

The second button on the footswitch controlled the speed of the rotor. IIRC, the speed switch was marked as "CHORALE" (slow) and "VIBRATO" (fast).

The speaker used in the Vibratone was usually a ceramic Oxford, CTS, or Eminence of 4 ohms, which generally matched the specified impedance of most Fender amps.
