I don't fully understand the question, but I guess as a blues player my answer is Root/third/fifth, but I stopped giving it any thought years ago. As the wise Texan said - "If it sounds good, it is good"

That's the problem with many "technical" guitarists; they get so obsessed with every note and mode, then they forget to "serve the song," i.e., play what fits the performance and injects soul and feeling of the song.

Yes, technique is just an excuse for the weak. :twisted: Just look at them over there basking in their technical exercises, thinking their superior to us. I hear their whispers and see them pointing their long skinny fingers. Rules are for fools - that's what I say.
