Even though I play Marshall, Vox, Blackstar and other amps, I find that My Les Pauls sound great through all my Fender amps. I really like the way one of my Les Pauls with P90s sounds through my Vibro Champ. This amp really brings out the great tone from these pickups. I like using a Tubescreamer with it. Even at lower volumes it is easy to set up an awesome tone with great harmonics. In the future I need to get some speakers for my 76 Super Reverb to hear what my P90s and Burstbucker Pros sound like through this amp. I don't even want to fire the SR up right now because I just got two speakers and they suck.

While I'm personally not a fan of Gibson guitar tones, and british amps. Gibson tones and a Fender amp I dig just fine. Mike Ness has one of my favorite tones outside of Fender players using his LPs through an old Bassman. Hard to argue with that combo.

I agree. I absolutely loved the sound of my '50s tribute SG (p90s), and my Firebird through a Blues Deluxe and a Super Sonic 60.

They don't sound QUITE the same through my Mustang or hybrid SCx2, but it's definitely in the ball park. A very good combo indeed!

For the record, Gibbo guitars also sound awesome through a Peavey Classic series amp! I think it's that warm, tweed era sound that combines with the mahogany body, and Gibson pick up voicings to produce that sweet warm clean and slightly overdriven sound I love so much. My other humbucker loaded guitars- an Ibanez and a Fender blacktop don't come close. ( they do, however, have their own wonderful tones!) The Schecter does- but it's basically an LP Special copy anyhow: all mahogany, same hardware, and G style p100 and hb pickups. As much as I love my Fender guitars, I tend to reach for that Schecter or my Gibsons first whenever I sit down to play. ( my CV Tele is a close second)

Hey- Neil Young made a career out of that sound. So did Allen Collins and Gary Rossington. ( Super Reverb, and Peavey Mace amps mostly. Gary does also love his old Super Lead for recording though.)

A guy named,…………. Ted Nugent, made a career of playing a Gibson through either, Showman, or Dual Showmans. They always sound good to me.

I believe that's what a lot of the early English punk rockers used as well, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, for example. White LP Custom through a Fender Twin on Nevermind the Bollocks.

I have a '51 ES 125 with a single p90 (original). The tone is heavy (not heavy metal heavy). But very deep and earthy.

Wish I knew a better way to describe than subjective adjectives. :P

I really need to get a recording of it posted.

I'm a big fan of plugging an ES-335 in to a Vintage Reissue '59 Bassman LTD. Add a reverb pedal, a dash of analog delay and a nice overdrive pedal and it's clean to slightly overdriven blues heaven.

Les Pauls and SGs also sound great through that amp but the 335 is something special.

Kinda makes you wonder if the designers at Gibson hq didn't have a Fender amp or two hidden in the back when they were designing and voicing their classics. Just swapped out a Marshall badge for the Fender one- in case the head honchos came down there!

I have an Epiphone SG and an Epiphone Les Paul and they both sound fantastic through my Fender Hot Rod Deville.

A guitarist I worked with for years who recently had to move out of state had the 410 HR Deville. He'd run either his Fender Aerodyne Tele or Gibson LP through it and they both sounded out of this world. Those Devilles can get some awesome tone.

I've always had only Fender amps. I think they sound the most awesome. If I had too much money then I'd probably also get a Hiwatt, a Vox and a Marshall but I still think Fender would be my go-to amp. Marshalls under 1000€ suck, the 2k € Marshall tube amp (60W, can't remember the model though) my GF's dad has sounds good for lead tones, but I don't like the clean-ish sound on it. I absolutely love my Supersonic 60, has the great lead tones and the awesome clean/crunch, whatever you want :) If I don't need the sparkling clean then I will use my Gibson LP with it. It has the Burstbucker Pros in it and I love that creamy overdrive I can get. Just wonderful. But for sparkling clean tones, Fender amp + Fender Strat is the way to go.
I can't say which guitar I use more often though. I do remember that on one of our last gigs, before the drummer had the operation (he's so eager to start playing again lol, although it will probably be at least a month before he can), I lent my amp to a guy that was accompanying a singer and didn't bring an amp with him (don't know why). When he saw me play afterwards, he said it was an unusual combination (I had the Gibson LP), but liked the tone a lot :P I guess most of the Gibson owners choose Marshall because they mostly don't like Fender (just like some Fender owners don't even consider the Gibson could be a better guitar - not talking overall, but in specific areas such as distortion) and don't even try out the combination. Well, they don't know what they're missing since you can get the best of both/all worlds that way :P

Damn, I can't wait another year and a half or 2 years till I graduate and get a BSc, I promised myself I'll buy a little self-gift, just can't decide which guitar it's going to be yet
