Here is a mock up of the MIM Jazz Bass project. When it's done the control plate will only have 2 knobs (concentric) and the jack.

Thr Strat project is on hold for a couple of weeks. I had to special order a different pickguard. It will still be Black Pearl though.

What knob are you getting rid of? What did it do?

MIM Jazz Basses come with 2 volume and 1 tone control.

When finished mine will have 2 volume and 2 tone controls.

It just goes from bad to worse. I just discovered that if I use the BadAss II Bass Bridge I can not use the Bridge cover.
I think I'll just go with the stock bridge and use the bridge cover.

Over the weekend I did some thinking about the bridge issue I had with the BadAss II.

Then it hit me. Why not move the Bridge up closer to the neck so that the cover will work? I looked at the Bass and the Bridge carefully. I made a template and used it to drill new mounting holes. The bridge would now sit 5/8 in. closer the the neck. The back of the bridge would be in the exact same spot as the stock bridge. The saddles on the new bridge have enough travel in them so intonation would work. I did have to change the saddle intonation screws and springs to have them go back as much as needed, but it works!!!!!!!

So the BadAss II Bass Bridge is mounted to my bass and the Bridge Cover will mount and cover as it was intended.

So do I. I did make another change to it. I didn't like the way the chrome pickguard screws stood out, so I switched them all over to black. It looks excellent now.
