I'm not sure about that. I'm another retired guy.

I'm re-learning the guitar after 30+ years away from it. But I still have my first guitar and I've acquired 2 electrics. I'm going to pick myself up a Telecaster and a good tube-amp, and practice, practice, practice.

I won't be a rock god, or blues god, but there's lots of tunes that I want to be able to play.

My grand kids think that it's really cool that their 63 year grand dad is learning how to play.

I spend my time with my computers, my music, my car (a Miata sports car) and working around the property - it's amazing how much needs to be done, even on just a one-acre spread. This year we are re-building the wooden fence that hasn't had much love - it's a lot of fun and gets me out in the sun (or the rain lately).

And I'm looking forward to Chet's progress on his projects.

It should be an interesting project. I'm looking forward to seeing the end results.

My talents with guitar building are limited to changing the strings.

I'm sure it is fun. I've been to scared to mess with things. As the saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I've adjusted string height out of necessity, due to the factory setup being absolutely horrible. Several of the string saddles were almost at a 45 degree angle from level. I'm surprised the sting didn't slip off. I just figured that some worker did the setup on a Monday, after some heavy duty partying over the weekend. Anyway.....it was a success. But a lot of the other stuff seems scary to me.

I had bought an el cheapo guitar to practice stuff on. That way if I messed it up it wouldn't be on my better guitars.

I don't think have a guitar that I hate enough to experiment on. Just reading the posts of people taking off the pickguard and tinkering with the innards, makes me shiver.

Here are the Strat Project Parts. Kinda hard to tell what is there so:

Far left: 3x 500k/250 Concentric Pots
Left: 3x Stacked knobs for concentric pots
Middle 1x Strat Elite Style Pickguard
Above: 220pf Caps
Below: Various values of Mallory 150 Caps
Right: 3x On/Off/On Mini Toggle Switches

Note: The caps are for several projects and as spares that's why there are so many.

Man did I screw up. I need to wear my glasses more often. The pickguard I ordered for my Strat project will not fit. If you look at the pic closely you see the pup hole sizes are larger and there are no pup mounting screw holes.
SO, I had to order a regular Strat pickguard with the cutout for the 5 way left off. I'll have to drill the 3 holes for the toggle switches myself.

I'm supposed to wear my glasses all the time otherwise things look a little blurry at certain distances. I always wear them when I'm out, but not when I'm at home.
