As someone who started out "moving stuff around" 20 years ago when I got out of the Army for some scratch and still does it as a "day job", which was mostly a graveyard shift job for over a decade. I can only say this. Try to enjoy it if you can. Take the money. Just always keep looking for a way up and out. It's an easy trap to fall into getting so busy that you put off looking for something more, or something better. Good luck, and congrats on the job!

Enjoy Corporate America.

I'd be really good at guitar if it weren't for the day job. :?

lol me too! I fantasize all day (as some of you know) here at work about chords, songs, guitar, music. Buxom, congrats for taking up the guitar so young. You will be great by the time you're my age if you just stick with it.

No, we communicate via walkie talkie, so I have to listen in case I'm called. Maybe if I had a stereo or something.

But yea, they say the average employee drops 20 lbs the first month.

Better to be working now you're of age. You won't get into the trap of being used to being out of work if you stick with it.

+1
Definitely on the road to escaping the 'nannystate' mentally. Stick with it and succeed.

When I was 18 and 19 I worked at "Builder's Square," which was a competitor to Home Depot. I was a "loader." My job was to help people get and take to their car and "load" things like 80 pound bags of concrete mix and and bags of soil and stuff like that. It was awesome. I was a runner and I just considered it part of training. $4.25/hour. I thought it was awesome.

If I had been smart, I'd have taken up guitar back then and I'd be decent by now.

Got my first check today. It was only for 2 days, as I started at the end of the pay period. Gross was $120, net was $110.
