Got a full time job, will post updates when the Guild is refretted, and all broken things are replaced. Won't be happening until next month, and it'l run me $650 or so. Gonna get a real estimate this coming Thursday if I can make it to my local music store. I think I may also go for some new amps. Who knows, I don't have any bills at this point in my life, so I can have fun with my paycheck for now. Gotta get it outta the way before I have bills.

40 hrs a week, $8 an hour, 9:00-5:00, 5 days a week. Thursday and Friday off.

Enjoy Corporate America.

I'd be really good at guitar if it weren't for the day job. :?

Sixteen grand a year to plant petunias and shovel manure all day long?

You're better off with an EBT and foodstamps.

It's pretty much just moving stuff around, tbh. Not bad work, just tiring at times.

While you're earning it, you ain't got time to be spending it!!!
Thats what I like about working. Well done Buxom.

$320 per week? Good wage when I was your age. Better to be working now you're of age. You won't get into the trap of being used to being out of work if you stick with it.

I'll be laid off in Jan-Feb because it's an off season. I can come back in March if I want to. Maybe I'll find a better paying job? Who knows.

However, first order of business is throwing down stainless steel on that #$@*&!% Guild. Second is buying my mom's van.

Take 10% of that gross pay each week and have it go Direct deposit to an Index 500 retirement fund..... Do that for the next 25 year's and enjoy a compounding interest.... :)

But $8.00 X 40 is not $320 take home.... Closer to $230, from that deduct your travel expenses, maintenance / mileage costs of that van you are contemplating...
Now do your take home pay....

BTW, if you are not already, if you really want to take home as much of that paycheck as possible, Community College courses would enable you to claim student status, thus your taxes are much much less.... :?:

Good deal, Buxom. I've been doing landscaping with my mom's business for about 2 years now, so I feel your pain. Honestly though, I'd rather have a more active job outside than a desk job any day. Nothing gives a better night's sleep than a hard day's work.

+1.. but make it 15% over time it adds up! Trust me on this, I started my career job at 19 and retired at 43. The first ten years you will think you are wasting your time but after that it really starts growing. Also, trust me on this also, any Gov handout is a trap, avoid them at all costs. What seems like a free easy deal will bite you in the $@! in later years. There are things hidden in these new "programs" that will punish you if you become successful. Nothing is free.

Keep us posted buxom. I did a season of landscaping when I was a kid, hated it. Here's a one word tip of what to do with the hard earned cash... College.

Yea, I know. My gross per month is roughly $1300, my mom said I should only expect to see $800-$1100 max, but we'll see next month. I just don't know yet, I've always been paid under the table.

Some cash in your pocket for a bit of graft, can't be bad Buxom, more cash would be better but none is a bigger pain, and it's getting up in the morning knowing you have somewhere to be and something to do, best of luck
